just noticed something. Re: P3D version

Recommended Posts

I was just curious and looked in windows 10 applications list.  I noticed my P3D client/content/scenery have a different version than the Prepar3DV4 Academic.  Does this mean I didn't apply a hotfix properly:

Prepar3Dv4 Academic:   4.5.12.30293

Prepar3Dv4 Acad Client: 4.5.13.32097

Prepar3DV4 Content: 4.5.13.32097

Prepar3Dv4 Scenery: 4.5.13.32097

Thanks.

Hello,

I think that you will only see all four versions the same when the whole of one P3D v4 version is installed. I do not think that the Prepar3Dv4 Academic version number has any effect apart from naming that entry in the Control Panel but I stand ready to be corrected. I certainly have no intention of uninstalling the whole affair and reinstalling it in order to change one number in the control panel.

Your Client, Content, and Scenery entries all have the same number.

That confirms your story and looks correct.

32097 is V4.5. HF2.

Thanks.

I deleted the first entry (pro version) when I updated - no issues.

I NEVER update the scenery - if you have add-ons like UT, GE and traffic - you've likely just messed everything up. Any exclusions or AFCADS you put in will likely be gone.

I delete all the scenery files for places I'll never fly - SA, AUS, AFR, ASIA. It saves a ton of space on the HD.

The Academic number is the last full install of P3D you could have 4.3.29.25520 and still be on 4.5 HF client .scenery and content.

B1900.  I hear what you mean about scenery hotfix.  However I don't mess with the AFCAD.  Typically I'll apply the update and the only thing that gets messed up for me is the orbx stuff.  But all i do is re-verify all files and I'm back in business.  Hard drive space is not a concern for me.
