Speech Not Recognizing "UP"

Featured Replies

How can I get speech recognition to do better with just a single word?

In the shutdown checklist, the FO challenges "Flaps?" and my response is "up"

However... I cannot for the life of me get Windows to recognize me saying "up".  It always thinks I said "out".

It has no problems when I say "flaps up" but with up by itself I get no 0% success.

I even tried "checked and set" and the FO does not accept that.

Hi Steve,

Which checklist and SOP are you referring to?

I don't have the manuals in front of me, but confirm "up" is the response printed in the manual.  Ensure it's not meant to be "up and off" or something.

Cheers,

I had to replace my microphone a couple of weeks ago and absolutely none of my commands were being recognized. The green bar was showing nonsense words.

The fix was to go into Control Panel \ Ease of Access \ Speech Recognition, selecting 'Advanced Speech Options', deleting my profile from 'Recognition Profiles', and then running the speech training again. I can whisper commands now and they get picked up correctly.

A bad recognition profile can really cause problems.
