March 15, 20206 yr I have a 1 tb nvme ssd and 2 tb nvme ssd. I want to install windows on the 1 tb and all my p3d stuff on the 2 tb. I know many addons install the the "documents" directory that would be on the 1 tb OS ssd. Is there an issue if p3d and some of the addons are on separate drives? Should I just change the location of the "documents" folder to the 2 tb ssd? Evan Hardin
March 15, 20206 yr Most addons do not install much beyond their xml configuration files into the subfolders under Documents. A few (like the Leonardo Maddog X) do install everything there, but with a 1TB boot drive, that shouldn't be a problem. You can change the location of Windows' Documents folder...which will affect any other programs that use the Documents folder. Personally, I'd find that to be a lot of unnecessary hassle. March 15, 20206 yr With those two powerful drives, it would be a waste not to split the sim across both drives. I run an NVMe 1TB boot/win which also contains all of the sim/addon executables. I also have 4x SSD drives. All 5 drives have my massive photo real scenery library distributed across them. And when I say massive, I have over 2TB of photo scenery. Works lovely. It is absolutely fine to use the boot/win drive for the sim. Even configured like that, the NVMe drive hardly gets off idle when supplying data to the sim.
March 15, 20206 yr With two NVMe drives you have a lot of spare horsepower. I have the same setup, but have the OS installed on a third separate SSD and this is where Documents (and the corresponding A2A, RealAir products) reside. I also have Pilot's Ultimate 3D Global Mesh installed on the second NVMe separate from P3D - works just fine.
