March 22, 20206 yr [Note: The subject (SIM) aircraft, for this post, is one of my bargain (Carenado) pick-ups from yesterday (I'd posted about the Carenado AC690 earlier).] The Rocky Mountain Range (stretching from Canada in the north, and all the way to Mexico in the south) is fascinating...whether overflying it or (especially) visiting on the ground. I have visited the Rockies, in Colorado, where I had the chance to witness these spectacular mountains up close... (In the heart of Colorado Rockies) for a (RL) flight from Aspen (KASE) to Denver (KDEN), the time is about 1 hour. The actual time spent in the air is (30-40) minutes. The flight distance is 125 miles. The flight, takes off, north, to clear the local mountains, and then heads east towards Denver overflying some of the highest ridges of the Rockies. For example, SkyWest Airlines flies its CRJs on the route using the track (LINDZ IDENE JNETT CREDE3)...(Of course, at the moment, these flights show up as "CANCELLED"!) Anyway, please find, here, a set of images from a SIM version of this short (test) flight replicated with Carenado's S550 Citation - uploading the same (above) route to its (simplified) FMS. And, the livery of this Cessna Citation Bravo (HB-VMX), used here, belongs to Alpine Air Ambulance (a Swiss Rescue and Medical Airlift company). The aircraft bears the inscription "TCS Ambulance". Thanks for viewing!! (And, stay safe, wherever you are)!! [Carenado(S550)/MSE(CO)/REX]

March 22, 20206 yr Author Folks: Appreciated. [Patrick: Thank you! And, it sure looks busy but cannot beat the complexity you've to deal with in your DCS cockpits...!]
March 22, 20206 yr Very nice; a beautiful route to fly. I did my mountain checkout (back when approach plates were carved in stone) in a C-182 from KAPA to Aspen, and it was eye-opening, especially when considering where to land in the event of an engine-out. Aspen did feature the nicest FBO I've ever seen, not surprising given the relative wealth of the customers. John G.

Mountain checkout into Aspen in a C182 - must have been quite an experience in RW...! Correct about “wealthy customers” of Aspen... When in Denver, I did think of taking a flight to Aspen, just to experience the town, nestled in the Rockies...(although skiing is the farthest thing from me)...I recall, after I returned from visiting the Rocky Mountain National Park, Aspen was snowed in, anyway... Also, I recall, the Park Ranger, at the Park, had suspiciously looked at my rental (namesake) SUV, but had let me drive up the mountain road with a word of caution to strictly follow the road signs and warnings, which I did...(an exhilarating experience at those elevations surrounded by high mountains and snow on the sides)...
March 25, 20206 yr Interesting challenge: dramatic Rocky Mountains against this beautiful repaint. Very nice combination! A little bit like the partnership of a strong man and a glamorous woman. Yellow often fits well with the landscape 🙂 Edited March 25, 20206 yr by PhotoReal Earth Always safe landings 😉
