April 2, 20206 yr Maybe dumb question, maybe more to developers. If model for P3Dv4 uses texture size 1024 pxt and I resize it to 4K / create the new one for 4K - the same model will see it as 4K texture or will do resize to 1024 pxt again (because it was saved in the model itself as hard coding)? Thx for reply. April 2, 20206 yr The texture size is done buy the developer that why they sometimes say best viewed in 2048 texture, you cannot change this but you upscale this in 4k hence the less AA needed, higher texture can impact performance. Raymond Fry.
April 2, 20206 yr You can resize textures to your heart's content. The model looks for the texture name and will display it regardless of its resolution.
April 2, 20206 yr Author Ok, so if I understand correctly - if I create bigger in pxt texture (more detailed and sharper, for example 4K texture) than defaut model (f.ex. 1024 pxt) P3Dv4 will see still this default size texture (do resize to this default scale), so I cant create more sharper texture? So it doesn't matter, Im correct? btw. in both situation in setting of P3D = 4K (so max resolution). April 2, 20206 yr As I understand it and in my limited experience with textures, compared to yours, the model will display the texture by name, regardless of what resolution that texture is at. If the simulator is set to display a maximum texture resolution of 4096 and the texture resolution is 4096, then the simulator will show the 4096 texture in all its glory and it will look a little better than a similar texture at 1024. Ok Thank You So, I'll do bigger one and check it. 😀 Webmaster of yoyosims.pl.Win 10 64, i9 9900k, RTX 3090 24Gb, RAM32Gb, SSD M.2 NVMe, Predator XB271HU res.2560x1440 27'' G-sync, Sound Blaster Z + 5.1, TiR5 [MSFS, P3Dv5, DCS, RoF, Condor, IL-2 CoD/BoX] VR fly only: HP Reverb G2
April 2, 20206 yr As my experience with game mod and 3d software(ah, not many...), it doesn't matter, as long as it can be show, A line in the middle of your picture file is always show in middle (or as how the UV is created) of that texture, no matter if it's 52x52 or 4096x4096
