April 12, 20206 yr Hi. I’m hoping to give v5 a go. What put me off v4.x was the fact you needed loads of add Ons to get the thing looking good. I was just confused as to what to purchase! So I didn’t bother and just removed v4. now with DX12, I’d like to invest some time and money. And give it a go! I know not all addons are confirmed yet for v5, however, what would I be looking to purchase on top of the base v5 package? (assuming all v4 addons are ported over). I currently use orbx with xp11. I have a rtx2080ti with 32gb ram and 9900KS. Looking to get the best visuals I can. And best weather. Planes can come after. Many thanks in advance!
April 12, 20206 yr 1) At a minimum for ground textures and night lighting get ORBX FTXG + Trees + LC for USA or EU. If Vectors is updated it could prove to be a good add-on but in v4 IMO it was a dud. 2) For weather I recommend the best of the best and stil the champ: Hi-Fi Active Sky For P3D v5 or whatever it will be called. If you want more variation of clouds we (not just you) will need either an updated Hi-FI ASCA or REX Skyforce 3D. 3) Airports + AI Traffic by AIG + GSX 4) Utilities: It's going to depend on what you use but popular utilities are FSUIPC, Flight planning tools, GTN/GNS units, etc. 5) Airplanes: Some should work, some will need to be updated. April 12, 20206 yr Author So. Basically, if I purchase the orbx global thing, that’s gonna get rid of the awful default ground textures and replace them with some good ones with night lighting? Is LC for the roads etc?

ORBX LC displays the ground textures without repeating patterns (or minimizes them). Orbx Vector is for roads, water, and coastlines.
