Confusion about VideoRAM usage

Featured Replies

P3D says it is using 4.7 from 9.2 GB

MSI AB says using 5.4 GB

2080Ti has 11 GB

How does this all fit together?

Windows won’t allow a single app to use ALL your VRAM, it needs some for itself, that’s why you can only use 9.2 gb out of 11.

The utility might shown the total vram used, P3d will only show what’s using itself.

That's what I thought too, but  then 5.4 + 4.7 =10.1, still 0.9 GB missing

The utility might not indicate what memory is using itself either, you shouldn't trust too much these. The main thing is, it's memory handled by Windows itself, P3D V5 can only manage whatever memory the OS has allowed to allocate to it.

That's why the VRAM counter in P3D V5 is the only thing that really matters since, the rest of VRAM, from P3D own point of view, doesn't exists.

Did not know that. Could be my OOM closing in 8.6gb in NVI in P3DV4.

Sadly I only have a 4K tv if V5 uses even more videoram
