October 17, 200619 yr I was worried there would be a scramble to get out stuff to us foaming at the mouth for anything X payware.First impression was that if you own any of the other Mytraffic releases, you know what the planes look like. Really bad but very fps freindly. Which considering FSX needs no help bringing a system to a crawl Im happy with them.Second thing I noticed is some airports, now I understand some at or near sea level have NO TRAFFIC. At least some Ive seen have no parked or airborn ai.Even with a high traffic setting, thre just do not appear to be much taxi,take off and landing activity compared to MT2004 and later versions.The planes appear black from the air until you get closer. On the ground they have no textures until you get really close.Overall Im happy having the airports with alot of planes with from what I can tell little or no fps hit.A patch or 2 should fix Mytrafficx right up.Also be aware you have to do some manual editing and do some of the install. Nothing requiring a PHD but it is a chance for someone to screw it up.NOTE to other developers.I know there will be a feeding frenzy for anything released for FSX and you all want to be first but TRY and fix the problems that are glaring at you before you release it.FX-62,2 gigs Kingston hyperx,7900gtx,raptor 150

October 17, 200619 yr Im not impressed at all with it, sofar all the airports i tested in Denmark doesnt work, no planes land, they just pop up out of nowhere at a parkingspot.What bothers me most is that there doesnt seem to be an easy way to uninstall it. I fear this will end in several hours of deleting and reinstalling FSX and tweaks again.
October 17, 200619 yr I'm disappointed and not spending my money at this time (I mainly use MYT for testing AFCAD files - only a couple aircraft actually in the air normally).At this time we can only approximate one leg of the AI triangle.If they have made the FSX TrafficDatabaseBuilder program work on custom routes - MyTraffic will have the only completely compliant FSX traffic files.We can do our best to mirror the aircraft configuration of the default aircraft with our AI aircraft. There are many changes - and one I wonder about is the change of how the aircraft parking size is determined. Have all the aircraft.cfg files been changed for the new values?The third leg for AI traffic is airports and parking - and I'm wondering if they have set My Traffic to use only the default FSX parking - or if they "cheat" like TrafficTools to overload the airport parking.FSX airports have a "Traffic Scalar" value - which appears to be set at 70% by default for all 24,491 airports.I don't yet know if this only is used by the TrafficDatabaseBuilder program - or actually impacts the AI aircraft within a FlightSim session.When you say you have aircraft popping up at the gate - are they doing that at random times, or do they popup when a parked aircraft pushed back away from the gate?AI aircraft popping up upon pushback is a sure sign of too much AI and too few parking spots.We can
October 17, 200619 yr I dont set the traffic slider too high so there should be enough parkings at the major airports. They just popup at a free parking space, no plane there before.I also tried TNCM and there the traffic seems to work fine, planes come in for landing. I tested 3 airports in Denmark and no planes come in for landing there.

October 17, 200619 yr Models and textures look of extremely poor quality. Shame to ask for money for this.Anyone heard about AI Aardvark or EvolveAI? Those guys release their excellent work as freeware!
October 17, 200619 yr Author Thats a feature, not a bug. Because these are low polly models with simple textures you can have lots of them without giving in to much performance.I have the old UT2004 and use it in FS2004 and I must say it does give a very convincing 'living world' with the AI at 100% and I still get a smooth fluid 30 FPS framerate even at the large airports.
October 17, 200619 yr I installed it last night and getting very little FPS impact coinciding with very little traffic. :) I am more interested in small airports and GA traffic at this time and I don't see much happening. (slider set to 70%). My local airports now have GA aircraft, but they don't do much and I have yet to see any aircraft in the air. I'll try the support forum this evening. I am using UT from FS9 as my yardstick were GA aircraft were everywhere. And I certainly could be missing an editor trick or two. Bob... Bob Prince
October 17, 200619 yr Some of the models in My Traffic are the same PAI v1 and FSP models used in Ultimate Traffic, and Just Flight's Traffic 2004.Several others have been created specifically for MyTraffic. Some of the newer models use the older model textures.Being low polygon has nothing to do with the quality of the repaints, it is the texture mapping and the speed / quality of the actual textures painted.The MyTraffic B717 is 2964 polygons with 6 LOD an "improvement over the PAI B717 which is 4896 polygons with 3 LOD. It's close to the AIA B717 with 2644 polygons with 8 LOD.However where the MYT model and repaint fails the user is in the textures.First the wheels for the MYT aircraft has no textures. They correct parts of the repaint are present, the textures have not been mapped to the model.The two halves of the body do not line up - with the left side (looking forward), being several pixels farther forward in the texture map than the right side. The underside back of the aircraft has several gaps in the textures where the two sides are not mapped correctly.Also MYT uses the five year old texture design concept where about half capability of the texture is not used.The use of multi-layered photoshop paint kits, the different scaling of different parts of the aircraft on the texture - are all concepts which came from the Microsoft default textures and have been adapted with great success by groups like AIA, EvolveAI and others.Now I fully understand that issues like AirTran aircraft being white and not cream colored are a symptom of the speed necessary when creating so many repaints.But things like the F-16 not having any textures on the missles - they show up as yellow. The skids on the helicopters not having any textures, wheels and props on so many others.Really poor work.MyTraffic, Ultimate Traffic and Traffic 2005 fill a need for the thousands of people who simply cannot afford a $25,000 AI setup with manually installing all the AIA, EVAI, etc models and flight plans, etc.I just wish they took more pride in the their work and at least completed their models.But again to empahsize, low polygon, FPS friendly AI aircraft do not require poor textures, poor models or bad looking AI.
