April 22, 20206 yr The crashes apply to all airports, are random, have nothing at all to do with anyone's addon and Lockheed Martin have found out why it is happening and promised a fix. All of this information is covered in an eight page topic at the P3D support forums Edited April 22, 20206 yr by Reader

ORBX actually stated that they were taking over support for Vector from Pilot's after their contract with Pilot's ended. They even had a support forum for it where folks reported issues. Unfortunately, ORBX has done nothing at all to fix any FTX Vector issues. Too busy working on TrueEarth I suppose. Now I'm guessing they're too busy working on MSFS-related projects to bother with FTX Vector, which is why they quickly announced that FTX Vector is no longer necessary because P3Dv5 has "newer" vector data. Sure, whatever. April 22, 20206 yr Facts. Orbx do have someone working on fixes to Vector. LM have introduced their own Vector datainto P3D v5 and it is not compatible with the Orbx Vector product. The rest, sure, whatever.

LM have introduced their own Vector datainto P3D v5 and it is not compatible with the Orbx Vector product. The rest, sure, whatever. Here's some facts: There were many unresolved issues in the ORBX FTX Vector support forum. some that were 2+ years old. When I asked if ORBX planned on updating FTX Vector or fixing the reported anomalies, here was the answer: "Vector since it release in December 2013 has seen 10 service packs with 100's of changes and improvements based on customer feedback and reports. There are no plans for updating Vector, if anything there may be sprucing up textures used for roads etc." As soon as P3Dv5 was released, ORBX issued this statement: "One notable exception to this will be Orbx Global VECTOR; at this point we are not intending to port this title to the new platform. The data within in Prepar3D v5 is much newer and complete and makes Global VECTOR less relevant. Airport data in Global VECTOR is also incompatible with Prepar3D v5. Though Global VECTOR does have additional features such as road tunnels and custom textures, at this stage we do not intend to modify it for Prepar3D v5." So, you must have inside info that the rest of us don't, because the official ORBX line is that they are done with FTX Vector. April 22, 20206 yr Not really, despite an apparent assumption to the contrary, Vector will continue to work in FSX, FSX-SE and P3D versions 1 to 4. Someone is still working on the anomalies and publishing his work in the Vector forum for customers to use as they wish. Anyone can read them. Edited April 22, 20206 yr by Reader

I'm a local too and I generally stay local when in the simulator - that would annoy the heck out of me. I wonder if you could layer in an elevation mesh product to squash it down. (?) -Greg I installed freemesh. That didn't help at all. And yes it does ruin the immersion in the local area. With BID, ACK, BOS and soon HVN, southern new england should be lots of fun to fly around. But this giant box really ruins it. It seems some people have reported it to LM. Ill check their forums. I wanted to make sure i wasn't alone, before reporting it -Tony@PVD Tony Moore

FYI - It looks as though this was fixed with HF1. I decided to make the purchase today and a flight down the bay from Providence out to Block Island looks just fine, with no anomalies present. The changelog for HF1 does mention scenery fixes... Updates to several airports and surrounding areas including KSAN, KPVD, KXNA, and KTRI. You'll likely need to either perform a full uninstall/reinstall of the whole kit, or grab the "Scenery" installer and uninstall/reinstall it (*along with the client, of course). -Greg

Even when LM has introduced better vector data now, this is only true for the most common areas but still with some flaws. I was thinking about to re-activate my Ultimate Terrain X series for v5. According to another post, this can be done quite easily. Boy...do I agree with this. YES! Stan
