May 3, 20206 yr Hi Guys Hope you are all well. Am looking for some advice, have been a long time FSX user (don't shoot me🤣) and have just bought P3D 4.5. Have been away from P3D since V3 and judging from the optionsin the sim I have alot of catching up to do. I wasn't quite brave enough to go for v5 yet, maybe I will in a few years. Now my FSX set up runs pretty smooth locked at 30 and I am not ready to ditch it yet. I run with a single 1080P screen which is only capable of 60 or 50Hz. Can anyone offer some advice regarding the settings i should be using. Idealy I would like to be running at 30 and above all i am looking for a smooth experience. ( the last time i tried with V3 I could never get it to run as smooth as FSX so left it alone). The set up is running an I5 9600K at 4.8Ghz 16GB Ram on Windows 10 with a GTX 2080. I have alot of ORBX sceneries and gather I can use ORBX Central to download these for P3D aswell, Would i also be right in that i can use the two sims with no problems? ( they are on different drives). Take care and stay safe Daz      My youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/c/Dkentflyer Â
May 3, 20206 yr You can definitely run the two sims side by side. And yes, Orbx Central will make the work of installing the sceneries in P3D easy. As for settings... they are different from FSX.. suggest you start with these: SETTINGS within P3Dv4 Display: FXAA off  AA: 4XSSAA texture filtering: anisotropic 8X texture resolution: high 2048x2048 Vsync off Target framerate: unlimited Wideview aspect: off mipmap VC panels off Screen resolution: 1920X1080 World LOD radius: high Tesselation factor: high mesh resolution: 5m texture resolution: 1m high resolution terrain: on Scenery complexity: extremely dense autogen draw distance: medium autogen vegetation density: normal autogen building density: dense or normal Dynamic vegetation: unticked water detail: medium Reflections: user vehicle only Special effects: medium/medium Lighting shadow quality: high draw distance: low casting and receiving: Internal vehicle only Dynamic lighting: on or off HDR on: Brightness 0.85 Bloom 0.05 Saturation 0.97 Dynamic reflections: off  Outside P3D, use the nvidia NCP to limit fps to 29 as a first test. That should give you good visuals and smooth flight.   Bert
May 3, 20206 yr If you get blurry scenery in flight, either add an FFTF line to the prepar3d. cfg file, or use the payware FFTF Dynamic app. The unlimited setting in P3D limits the texture loading capability in flight.. For general use, [MAIN] FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.15 (or 0.20) should work nicely. Bert

I never needed one for v4.5. Jose MSFS

May 4, 20206 yr Author Thankyou Bert , I will give the settings a try. Re limiting the frame rate any reason for limiting to 29 rather than 30?   My youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/c/Dkentflyer Â
