Blurry AI textures in P3D v5

Featured Replies

I am installing AI into my P3D v5 (with the hotfix). So far I just installed GA AI and military AI. I go to KTEB (because that is a big GA airport) to see some of the AI in the sim and all the AI planes are blurry (my plane was blurry also). They did become clear when I got close to the AI planes after about a minute. What could be causing this?? I did not have blurry textures with P3D v4+!

I did notice that with the dynamic texture streaming option not checked my AI was still blurry but they became clear a lot quicker. The only problem is that my sim crashed when that option is not checked.

For those that have AI installed in P3D and don't have blurry textures, what are your settings? Maybe it's my settings that are causing this? I am actually thinking of going back tp P3D v4.5 because I think the more AI I install the worse it will get.

Edit: I also noticed my textures flashing for about a second every few seconds. I don't know if this has anything to do with the blurry textures or not.

Flashing you can get rid of by either disabling VSYNC in the sim and keeping "dynamic texture streaming" or vice versa. Both together end up in a flickering mess.

Blurry AI: hmm, a tricky one, what do you use for "anisotropic filtering"? What AI traffic do you use? Did I read it correctly, that only some of the AI planes are blurry but not all of them?

Ok The flashing was stopped by disabling "Dynamic Texture Streaming", but then I can't use the new TrueSky stuff because my sim crashes (It didn't crash before the Hotfix).

For my AI I installed it all by hand getting stuff from AIG and various other sites. For the anisotropic filtering I have it set in the sim at 8xSSAA. I also have it set to "enhance the application setting" in the Nvidia control panel. And yes it was all the all the AI I saw at KTEB.

Then try "dynamic texture streaming" on, but VSYNC inside the sim off. This should also eliminate the flickering.

8xSSAA is the antialiasing setting, I asked for anisotropic filtering.

BTW: if your hardware is not capable of running with "dynamic texture streaming" off, I wonder how you can stand 8xSSAA. Even 2xSSAA is too much for my 1080Ti...

Sorry. My anisotropic filtering is set at 16x. In the Nvidia control panel I have it set to "enhance the application".

I don't know what is going on with my computer and v5. I can run the sim with the normal clouds and everything max out with no problems (except for the blurry AI and flashing). I try out the TrueSky feature and in certain situations the sim gets the out of VRAM thing (I had 2 earlier), but then with other situations I come close to VRAM but don't go over.

PS: My graphic card is GTX 1080 (non Ti). My computer is similar to yours.

I think I was have a reason for the blurry AI. I was just at KTEB again to see about the flickering you mentioned and I notice one G-V (HTAI model) that was not blurry (N129KC). I opened the paint in Imagetool and saw that the paint had the Mip Levels at 1. The other planes that were blurry had the Mip Levels at 9 or even 10. So I think that may be the problem?

Be sure to use AI models compiled at least for V4.. I have seen many issues with models compiled for FS9 and FSX...

I do. I got all the AI models I have from AIG, FAIB, FSPXAI, and MAIW.

I get this too and was scratching my head. I wonder what is different between previous versions and v5?

I am glad I am not the only one. It has been driving me crazy also. I tried different settings I tried to see if there was a bad texture and so far I have not been able to fix it.
