If I want to make a PA (like Welcome, TOD, ...) I have to turn the knob to PA and press PA button. When I'm finished with one of the PA's, I press PA button but don't turn the knob. Next time when I want to make PA I have to turn the knob to something else, than back to PA and press the PA button. Is this normal procedure? My question would be why is not enough to just press the PA button on the radio, why also the knob turning every time?

It's just part of the reset function.

Reading data and making things working the Dash 8 requires lots of little tricks like this.
