PMDG 737 in v5

Okay Claude, thanks for that.

There may be changes but for me I'm not prepared to pay 80 GBP for them when I paid 76 GBP 18 months ago.

Bruce, with respect that sounds like a  sales pitch. Are there any videos showing how users how much better this aircraft is with an EFB than the previous one without it? When I look at the PMDG site there's nothing showing how the EFB works and why customers must have it. Maybe if I was a real-world 737 pilot I'd appreciate the EFB but it doesn't sound like something worth 80 GBP.

I agree with you that paying again with no discount is more palatable if you've had the 737NGX for several years. But no way am I paying more than I did 18 months ago for an aircraft that is not hugely different to the version I'm flying now.

What program do you use for your takeoff calculations with the NGX?

That in itself is a big upgrade that EFB brings for me. I can calculate any performance settings right there inside the cockpit, especially useful when there is a sudden change in runway/intersection takeoff assignments.

This is among other things.

For those who have the NGX working in v5 does that include the Wx Radar too?

It does not, nor would it, the only working Active Sky for V5 has a different API and had and needs to be updated in every PMDG aircraft that comes to V5. This will never work for the NGX. If active sky was able to use the same api then maybe but the WXR only works in the 747-400/8 etc because that aircraft was updated for V5. The v4 api didn’t change however it’s not being used in V5

Hi Ray,

I went from V3 to V5. I have no idea how it perform in V4.5. I have a 2080ti and I'm struggling to get the same performance out of the 777 or 737 ngx compare to the Majestic Dash8 or Maddog X

NGX has never had anything close to the Q400’s performance in any sim version. Majestic did a brilliant job with that aircraft.

In v5, the Maddog performs quite a bit better than the 747 and (non-compatible) NGXu. We will see if this changes when the v5 NGXu comes out in the next week or so, but for now I find myself flying the MD-82 much more than the PMDG Boeings.

Opinions =/= facts. 😉

Although I’m seriously amused you guys gave me a warning because I reported you for making statements that clearly contradict the actual developer of the plane on a question of code without a single shred of evidence of your own. I literally laughed out loud. It’s like a satire. Instead of just dismissing the report, oh man. 😄

So I can randomly go ahead and state that devs are lying without providing evidence?

Have a nice rest of the evening anyway. I genuinely mean it. 🙂

The statement that NGXu is the same code as the NGX has been refuted several times by the developer. So I agree that you absolutely should not have been cautioned for your previous post.

We do not assume that the iFly 737 has the same code as the NGX, and it does not follow that the NGX and NGXu are somehow identical just because they model the same type.

As someone who owns both, I was pleasantly surprised by the improvements that the NGXu brings. I am not disappointed by my purchase, as the 737 is just such an incredibly versatile sim aircraft, and I found myself flying it in P3D v4 all the time.

As for v5 compatibility of the NGX (not NGXu): it will, at best, be marginal. No weather radar, poor frames (reported here), high risk of CTD. I would only advise it as a test for fun, not as a serious option for v5 737 simming.

I use PFPX and Topcat. Used them for years. And I can use PFPX for other aircraft too.

Thanks for clarifying the situation. I anticipated the Wx Radar wouldn't work.
