Anyone tried the Horizon VFR demo in pcpilot magazine y...

If it is as good as that, it will certainly be one worth having, I've got the pc pilot demo, bu not checked it out. I know some of the areas featured in that demo film and it looks spot-on, however, it is dependent on the light direction to look convincing, since most of the shadows seem to be rendered on the texture, rather than from light sourcing, so the effect might no be so convincing at say, dawn, or late evening. Nevertheless, if you want to fly VFR around there at 2pm in your sim, it looks like a real winner.

Even better, I was at a flight sim show in Bristol on Saturday and watched a live demo by Horizon. It was absolutey tremendous!Even down to 300ft. it was ultra realistic.Way, way beyond the previous VFR for FS9. Good though it was, it gets better - they also demo'd their add on due in the spring. The VFR is due in a week or twoI think but when the add on comes it adds much more still!David

Wow. that looks awesome. And next year they are coming out with 3d objects (trees/buildings) for the entire scenery.I would seriously consider (when I can finally upgrade to use FSX) buying this stuff and flying nowhere else. It seems to me that there is zero compromise with this scenry.

Very impressive. I sure hope they redo their Northern CA scenery as it's my favorite in FS9.

All I want is to be able to fly low (landing/taking off) and not feel like I am flying over a satellite photo. I don't like the feeling of flying over a picture. The satellite imagery is great especially with 1m/texture when flying with some altitude but when you get lower to the ground you get some really ugly blurred low resolution ground. It's hard to even make out anything. Autogen is nothing special either. Maybe bigger cities are ok because all the autogen covers this horrible blurred satellite imagery but when trees and houses are just popping out of this 2d terrain it's awful. They need to come up with a way to make it all 3d. Not just 3d objects placed on top of 2d scenery.
