After new installer: Cabin Windows are not transparent!
I and my friend uninstalled the 777 by the book-everything re. 777 deleted. We both used the new installer and all works correctly including windows! We both use FSX with EFB and UK scenery but no other add on. does that point to other addons? Regards to all David Pedder

Flight Level.
Thank you Nixon- That did the trick. I suppose that it is somewhere in the 2000 pages but I am not up to that yet!¬ David

Flight Level.
I set up the FMC exactly as in the tutorial apart from change of start and destination. I started from Gatwick using a long turnround. I used the information at the end of the tutorial regarding a cold and dark startup. After a few items it then says-At this point continue with FMC setup used in the tutorial. I did all this putting in (in my case) 34000ft. In the tutorial 38000 is inserted and all the legs showed this. Later a choice for a step climb came but was not used.So the TD went without problem. In my case there is no step climb as it goes straight up to 38000.

Flight Level.
I set up a flight with FL 34000. Before Take off I checked the legs page and found that by page 2 or 3 the FL had gone up to 38000! I left the MCP at 34000 as planned. when top of descent appeared on the nav. display I set the MCP to 3000. At the TD the vertical path deviation showed no deviation but the plane did not start to descend for a long time. when it did descend, all went well to landing. I repeated the flight after re-booting and the same thing happened again. This time I set the MCP to 38000.When into cruise at 38000 I had to go out, so I saved the flight.. When I re-loaded, the panel was hopeless as usual so I re-loaded the panel state. This was then ok but I had lost a lot of height so it started to climb. BUT- the legs page now showed 34000 as it should. I quickly changed the MCP to 34000 and all went well to the end. How is the FMC incorrect when first loading and how is it correct when re-loading? A puzzle, an ideas? David

Flight Level problem
I planned a flight at 34000. Upon checking the legs page before TO I found that page 2-3 the FL had gone up to 38000(why?) But , as planned I set the MCP to 34000. After some cruising at 34000 the TD appeared on the nav. display. I reduced the MCP to 3000. However, when passing the TD it did not start to descend , even though the path deviation indicator came up showing no deviation. After quite a few miles it did start to descend and all went well.It seemed as if the TD started as if I had chosen 38000! I decided to repeat the flight putting in 34000 again but as it came up with 38000 in the legs again, I set the MCP to 38000. I got into cruise at 38000 but I had to stop to go out- so I saved it in cruise. Later I returned to it loaded but as often happens the panel was all wrong but I loaded the panel state from the saved state in the FMC. By the time this happened it had lost a lot of height so it started to climb back up. BUT- the legs p age now showed 34000!.So I set the MCP to 34000 and all went well at the TD. Has anyone any ideas what went wrong? David

Problems with Trottle and Thrust - 600 Model
It needs a fresh re-loading of PMDG or FSX. Search the forum regarding your problem and re-loading. I believe that what you want to do is not possible without the re-load.

SAITEK Yoke Flight System
I have owned my Saitek system for 3 years without any problems.I re-calibrate the yoke and throttle every so oftem but that ismore software than hardware. As some others say, I use FSUIPC(registered)and find that it allows full use of all the (many) switches. For instance I use theswitches below the throttles to change the heading and altitude bugs. The other oneI use to move the eye point in and out . etc,etc for the other switches on the yoke.David

nice graphics with an Ati card
Looking at some nice graphics just posted on the PMDG 737NGX forum,I decided to try the tweek suggested.I use the Horizon UK photographic scenery.[attachment=36716:2012-1-11_18-47-16-125.jpgThe results are wonderful! Most sliders over to the right and frame ratesof around 40 on the ground and higher in the air.My card is a MSI R6850 overclocked with the built in overclocker. This is the first attachment that I have posted so I am not sureif the quality will show up as it is on the screen. The plane is over Bogner Regis.David

save problems
A friend of mine has problems with saved flights. We have searched the site andnot found an applicable answer. This is using the FSX PMDG MD11. Both FSX and MD11 up to date.Windows 7 64 bit.He saved a flight using the first tutorial and was on the runway nearly ready for takeoff.when he came back next day and loaded the flight, engines were running etc. butno FMC data! Going into loading the panel state for that saved flight put everything(more or less) back ok and he could continue.Even saving at that point(on pause as before)and going out of fsx and re-loading windows -still no fmc data and fuel quantities all wrong. He also tried saving a flight in the air but that was even worse! No FMC data etc. so heloaded the panel state and the plane went completely out of control and crashed.Only addon is EFB but was not running during these tests. If possible he does not wish to uninstall and re-install all - He has all the Horizon photographicscenery and all the uK airports.Do you think that it would be worthwhile to just uninstallthe PMDG MD11 rather that the FSX as well. The save flights used to work until a week or ago!Any comments would be much appreciated.David

Why is everybody so much into heavy long-haulers?
A very interesting topic -and good fun to read the different choices.I must admit to accelerating time in long hauls because I find thatleaving things in real time and making a drink or reading a book etc.is really just the same (in effect) as accelerating the time -that is notsitting and looking at the panel or the sea!Just my opinion of course but it is nice to read the others.David

2D vs 3D cockpit?
I used to use a mix of both but since I got the MD11 it has been vc only.what helps me a good deal is the Saitek yoke and throttle. On the yoke I have the left up/down toggle tomove my eyepoint up/down/The right left/right toggle moves my eyepoint l/r.On the throttle I have another toggle switch which I use (rarely to move my eyepoint in/out.This means that when I am in the normal captains position and I want to (say) put on the seat belts sign,I just pan upwards and then slide to the right with my right thumb, use the mouse for the swtichesin the normal way then slide back and down. Apart from the mouse swtich my hands don't leave the yoke.I also by the way have the other two toggle switches on the throttle to adjust the heading and altitude. It is all very easy and quick to learn and after a while , I move to wherever I wish to work without thinking!Just my thoughts on the subject.David

How Did PMDG Get This Name?
The PS1 747 was far and away the best until the PMDG was released.I have in front of me the e-mail from Robert dated 01 Mar 98. confirming that I am registered as a valid ownerof the 747-400 users guide.I still have this guide (3 ring binder) including the 1.3 u[dates.)PS1 first came as 4 floppy discs! PS3 (there was no PS2) came on cds.Things have only got better!!David

Bill Bulfer
Thanks for all replies.I have the version which was issued in 2003 and (being a ring binder)has a few updates in August 2004.It goes up to the 800 -not beyond.I suspect that it will cover most of what I will need.I originaly bought Bill Bulfers' Guide to the 757,767,747 in one volumeto use with PS1 (remember that!) and found that it was fine with PMDG 747 years later.David

I have the FMC users guide for the B737NG by Bill Bulfer. Will this still be useful for the PMDG 737NGX?It is updated to 2004 and covers to the 800 series.David

sound problems
Thank you all for your replies.I now think that I have solved it.When I am in FSX and flying the PMDG MD11 and I tab to addons then PMDGI do not have any setting for sound! My copy of the aircraft is the DVD fromaerosoft. When I got it, it was fully up to date with updates. So I went into FSX-PMDG and found a file PMDGsounds.ini when I openedit said- soundvolume=65. I changed this to 50, saved it and the cockpit is much better.A simple answer I coudn't find the sound tab as it was not there!David

sound problems
I have just tried the sounds with a default FSX plane(Moony) and all sounds are fineand thetab-settings-sound all work fine.by the way since my system is only 2 months old both FSX and PMDG MD11 are both new installations.Other than this sound problem everything is working perfectly.David
