January 25, 201214 yr Hi captains :wink:i am currently looking at buying a SAITEK Proflight Yoke system.Reading the pro's and contra's here in the forum, i am still not fully convinced or oposed. What i couldn't find out is:Will the flap lever be able to set the various degrees like 1,2,5, and so on ?Will the spoiler lever work as supposed: Arm, adjustable, flight detend etc..Your opinion: sufficient buttons to put most functions (like real world and some more)Is there a ready made profile for this available ?Assign only one lever for both engines is acceptable. (for now )May be you guys, who own this thing, can bring some light into thisand/or talk me out of buying :sad:Oliver --
January 25, 201214 yr Hello Oliver,I use the Saitek yoke and rudder pedals:1) You can set the flap lever, and but there is no detents in the hardware, therefore, you will need to get the feel of the hardware.2) The Spoiler works the same way, you can move it a certain distance (no detents) and it will arm and move to Flight Detend too3) I don't see any profiles, but don't use them anyway, just the FSX settings (No FSUIPC used).I use elevator trim and autopilot disconnect on the yoke and and gear up/down on the pedestal.but that's it.There are plently more buttons you can customise yourself. One extra point. If you are using the rudder pedals, then do the following:(a) Check the "Reverse" boxes next to the Toe Brake assignments in the "Assignments" section of the "Display" page of the "Settings",(:( Select the Rudder Pedals and then select Advanced Controls. Ensure that the sensitivities for both brake axes are set to ~ 75-% and that the null zones are set to 0% for both.Otherwise, the BRAKES light will remain on when the toe brakes are activated. January 26, 201214 yr I have the yoke and rudder pedals but use them with fsuipc registered versionI can program flaps 1,2,5,10,15 etc for every notch ( no detente) for the ngx and something different for the md11It gives me reverse thrust, engine start up buttons, spoiler lever, etc, i love it! January 26, 201214 yr I actually have a problem with the sst program as far as profiles go so i wouldnt mind looking at a custom profile if anyone would like to send it to me to try Pm me if interested Thanks !!
January 26, 201214 yr Author Hi captains, first of all, thanks for your helpful comments, appreciate this .. I have the yoke and rudder pedals but use them with fsuipc registered versionI can program flaps 1,2,5,10,15 etc for every notch ( no detente) for the ngx and something different for the md11It gives me reverse thrust, engine start up buttons, spoiler lever, etc, i love it!how do you guys implement "nose wheel steering, tiller with the Yoke/ Quadrant combination, same for rudder.I am asking this, because pedals are planned for later this year, otherwise wife will go mad :Billy:Happy flyingOliver Edited January 26, 201214 yr by JetNoise --
January 26, 201214 yr i've been using the saitek yoke plus an extra throttle quad and saitek pedals and i absolutely love the entire setupi was using CH gear before and i am 110% happy i made the switchto add to your questions:1. i setup the flaps through FSX controls, nothing fancy needed2. the spoiler can be setup 2 ways; either through FSX or through FSUIPC. if FSX, be aware that sometimes the plane thinks you're constantly inputting commands to the spoiler (if it's halfway down for example) and you can't arm the autopilot (if you have realistic AP settings enabled in the CDU).personally i set it up through FSUIPC using ranges of motion for different commands, i.e. 0-25% is no action, 26%-40% is arming it, etc.3. i used to use profiles through the saitek software but once i realized i could setup commands through FSUPIC both global and aircraft specific, i just started doing that. no extra profiles or software to load every time i want to fly, everything is already setup through FSUIPCi don't know how much you can setup using an unregistered copy of FSUIPC, because mine is registered and i have no limitations. but it was one of the best addons for FSX i've ever purchased, if not the best and most useful everas far as the yoke and throttles themselves, for the amount you pay you get the best deal in my opinion. the yoke itself is partly made of metal, and it's heavy and sturdy feeling (unlike the cheap, lightweight and flimsy feeling CH yoke i used before it).it also has a clock on it that doubles as a stopwatchplenty of rocker switches on the throttle quads, and every lever has a reverse zone that acts like a button push, so you can setup your reverse thrusters easilywith 2 quads i get 2 separate engine throttles, parking brake, spoilers, flaps, and gear Mitch
January 26, 201214 yr Author Hi captain flyguy172 with 2 quads i get 2 separate engine throttles, parking brake, spoilers, flaps, and gear2 quads is of course the ultimate setup :Love:Hell, i just placed the order for the SAITEK yoke system WITH pedals, 230 Euros seems to be a good deal for both.Wife, hah, .. a man has got to do, what a man has got to do :LMAO:Oliver --

January 26, 201214 yr Author You can do what my wife does, she only tells me what she saved on a purchase and NOT what she actually spent, lol.I'll apply that profile too.Happy flyingBTW, profile: Someones willing to share his FSUIPC profile for Saitek Yoke, Quad and pedal setup ? pleaseI guess no one likes to reinvent the wheel :Thinking:Oliver --
January 26, 201214 yr Can profiles be imported to FSX FSUIPC then? Edited January 26, 201214 yr by G7USL Dave Taylor
January 26, 201214 yr Hi captain flyguy1722 quads is of course the ultimate setup :Love:Hell, i just placed the order for the SAITEK yoke system WITH pedals, 230 Euros seems to be a good deal for both.Wife, hah, .. a man has got to do, what a man has got to do :LMAO:OliverI'm really sorry to say, but I recommend you cancel your order. The Saitek Yoke System is crap. I've had two of them and both failed after around 6 months. But that's not the only thing. After a few minutes of flying everytime, the lubrication gets so bad that the aileron axis will get squeeky and unsmooth, the elevator axis is always sticky. If you plug in an extra device without a power adapter, then there's a good chance it will fail one day. Also it may get uncalibrated sometimes, then you have to unplug and replug the yoke in again. The throttle quadrant is good though, but after a while it might get a little sticky too, because of the dust coming inside there. So, I've given up on this thing for a while now. For the moment, I'm using the Saitek Pro Flight CESSNA Yoke. A little more expensive, but so much smoother. This thing has got 180 degrees of turning, instead of only 90 degrees (45 to each side) of the Pro Flight Yoke System. It's also wayyyy smoother in both the aileron and elevator axis. The throttle quadrant looks the same but is a little smoother also. I recommed cancel the yoke system (rudder pedals are good), and get the Pro Flight Cessna Yoke instead. Way better choice. January 26, 201214 yr with 2 quads i get 2 separate engine throttles, parking brake, spoilers, flaps, and gearHow do you connect the extra throttle quadrant? The one that comes with the system uses a mini-din connector and there is only one port of that type. --------------------- Gabriel Diaz
January 26, 201214 yr How do you connect the extra throttle quadrant? The extra quadrant is USB. You can either connect it to a port on the yoke, or any other USB port on your computer. Fabrice Lambert
