Does anybody use dual screens (monitors) in the NGX?
Hi gb, I use a saitek radio panel too and I'm quite happy with it. Not perfect (the selectors are quite hard and the rotaries are not precise), but it does the job. I use the SPAD software with it (http://fstools.weebly.com/). It works better than the saitek software. If I had the money to get something better, for example opencockpits hardware, I would go this way. For now, the saitek panel is ok, but the price is too high compared to quality. Hope this helps. Does anybody use dual screens (monitors) in the NGX?
Adrian, these are the videos I was thinking of. Thanks! Ben, welcome to the wonderfull world of triple monitors. Now, you will not be able to stop... FMC on an iPad, physical radio stack, MCP and EFIS... Checking your bank account and cry everytime you go on the Opencockpits website... :-) Enjoy!!

Does anybody use dual screens (monitors) in the NGX?
Ben, I've read about some simmers using Nvidia Surround and it seems to behave the same as the TH2G, I did not read complaints. One thing you have to know, is that using three monitors, no matter how, adds some distortion in on the edges (on monitor 1 and 3) and the angle of view is wide. You will have to play with the zoom in FSX to obtain something acceptable (zoom 1.0 is the best for me), but you will never get a perfect image. I learned this after buying and testing and was a bit disapointed because the view was not as wide as expected, but got finally used to it. I encourage you to search the net about FSX and triple monitors. I remember a site where a guy explained why it happened (with some videos on youtube too) and how to find the best zoom factor, but cannot remember the name. You will not find screenshots showing this distortion, because strangely enough, when you do a screenshot, it does not show it... My goal is just to inform, in no case I tell you you should not do it. As I said, I could not fly without my three monitors now. Read and make your decision. Happy flying! Fabrice

Does anybody use dual screens (monitors) in the NGX?
Hi Ben, I'm currently using four monitors with the NGX: three for the virtual cockpit (using a TripleHead2Go in 5760x1080), and a fourth for my instruments (PFD, MFD, etc in 1280x1024). I'm flying in fullscreen and noticed a drop of 3 to 5 FPS compared to when I used one monitor, so considering I tripled the horizontal resolution, this is very good. And once you tried multi-monitors, you will not be able to use only one again :-). Hope this will help. Fabrice

Three Years Already...
Three years already? Wow !! The NGX made me go from flying with a joystick to flying with a yoke, EFIS and MCP from Opencockpits and radio panel from Saitek and from a single to triple monitors with TripleHead2Go, and made me install a second computer for Active Sky Next and Aivlasoft EFB. I went from just flying around to learning procedures, checklists, SID, STARS and so on. I still have so much to learn, but I can't imagine doing this without my NGX. Thanks PMDG! Fabrice

Is there a way to keep enlarged PFD/ND in views?
Hi Ralph, Do you fly in full screen? I do and just have another monitor where I drag my enlarged PFD/ND. They're still there when I change the view. Hope this helps. Fabrice

Considering buying, but...
Hi Everyone, Thanks a lot for your replies. Actually, by continuing testing, I noticed I had more and more problems. I then decided to completely uninstall all my add-ons and FSX, remove all folders in AppData and re-installed everything (it took two full days...). Now, I'm in DX9 again with FSX almost maxed out, and after a few flight, not a single issue, OOM or even FSUIPC ding, with constant 30fps (25 over Paris). So, for now, I'm not conisdering using DX10 anymore. Thanks anyway to all of you who took the time to reply and, who knows, maybe I will come back soon and test DX10. Thanks Steve of being one of these persons spending days and days trying to improve our flightsim experience. Fabrice

Considering buying, but...
Hi Everyone, I'm considering buying this software, but... I'm currently using DX9, with 4 monitors. Three for the virtual cockpit view (with a TripleHead2Go) and a fourth monitor where I drag my zoomed instruments (I'm in full screen). With DX9, I obtain most of the time 30 fps (limit set in NVidia inspector) with some slow down to 25 fps. As I have a lot of add-ons, I often experience OOMs, or at least the famous fsuipc "dings". As I read that DX10 with FSX has a lot better memory management, I'm interrested in this software. But as the cost is quite high, I wanted to try DX10 without it at first (I fly only by day to avoid the DX10 grey textures issue). An here is my problem: where I obtain 25-30 fps with DX9, I obtain 8-15 fps with DX10! The funny thing is that if I don't use my 4th monitor, I get 15-22 fps! You understand that I don't want to buy this softwarte until I get at least the same fps as with DX9. So it would be nice if you could give me some advice or tips to have better fps with DX10. I will certainly purchase this soft if I can prove myself that I can do some flights without OOMs and without loss of performance. Thanks a lot for your help, Fabrice

TripleHead2go and the NGX
Hi everyone, I know this is not stricly related to the NGX, but as this is a great community with a lot of helping people, I dare asking here. I just bought a triplehead2go digital SE and two extra 24" monitors to use with the NGX. I was able to setup everything and can now see the virtual cokpit in 5760x1080. In the past (with one 24" widescreen monitor), I always used the setting WideAspectView=false, and everything was perfect. With the three monitors, if I keep this setting, I have the impression of having my nose on the instruments, and full unzoom does not help. A quick search on the internet showed that I have to use WideAspectView=true to correct this. It's working but.... the side monitors shows an horrible distortion/stretching. And when I undock the PFD, for exemple, it is extremely stretched (I have a 4th monitor where I drag some instruments), and I have to resize it manually, Some quite old posts on the internet gave the "solution" of using a zoom between 1.30 and 1.50 (if I remember well), and to move the point of view backward. The problem in that my point of view is already back (I'm using EZdock) and if I move it further, I see the seat... And the distortion is still there... Does anyone use a similar configuration and have some ideas or solutions? All the posts I found on the internet were quite old (with links to sites not existing anymore), so hopefully someone found a solution recently. Thanks a lot for your help. Fabrice

"You've missed your crossing restriction"
Hi Guys, I did not have the opportunity to fly again before today. I made two flights with 300ft in the options and everything went well. Thanks to all for your help. Fabrice

"You've missed your crossing restriction"
Thanks Ray, I will try. Most of my flights have LSGG as departure or destination (I live ~100km from there...), and I always use a SID or a STAR (using the IAP approach option), so no problem with the mountains... :-) Thanks a gain, Fabrice

"You've missed your crossing restriction"
Ray, here they are: 1st flight: LSGG - EDDS 2nd flight: EDDS-LSGG 3rd and 4th flight: LSGG-LFBO I did not change anything, only the altitude option set to 2000ft for my 4th flight. Ronzie, thanks, I will reverse the altitude setting to 300ft (that's the default value, right?). I always acknoledge all RC requests. I'm using Aivlasoft EFB and the rings on the map shows I'm more that 40 miles away from the airport when level at FL120. Also, RC gives me the distance to the airport on the RC window (which was at least 45 miles on my four flights.). Then, when reaching 40 miles, RC tells me that I missed the crossing restriction. Thanks, Fabrice

"You've missed your crossing restriction"
Thanks for your replies, guys. I thought of the Baro setting, but this is not the problem. I tested during two flights, and the difference was only about 200 feet between STD and local, so this should not interfere with the altitude tolerance in the settings (2000ft in my last flight). Anyway, flying in Europe, I was in STD. @Artur. I usually use IAP approach, but I have to contact approach first, and my problem is RC not telling me to contact it as it pretend I'm not at the right altitude. Fabrice

"You've missed your crossing restriction"
Hi Everyone, On my last four flights, RC started to have a strange behaviour when approching my destination. It tells me to descent to FL120 "in 30 miles or less", what I do. On my four flights, I was level at FL120 at least 45 miles from the airport (RC usually ask to contact approach at 40 miles). However, RC told me that I missed my crossing restriction and asked me to turn. When it happened the first time, I turned but RC let me on heading for several minutes and I flew more than 30 miles before I decided to disobey to ATC and went back on track. RC asked me several time to change direction before finally asking me to contact approach (I was about to capture the localizer). On my next flights, I decided to not follow what RC told me and it asked me to contact approach very late too (and never told me that I was not on my assigned altitude as I was descending). Om my last flight, I tried to change the altitude setting option to 2000ft to see if this was due to RC not seeing the same altitude as the simulator, but the same happened. Even worse, approach never asked me to contact tower... Also tried to do a scenery update, but no luck. Any ideas what can cause this? Thanks a lot. Fabrice

Stopping NGX throttles up and flaps set to 15 on start?
I had the same problem recently. After a CTD, all my commands came back to default. I had to re-configure them all...

New OCP4NGX 1.3 with OpenCockpits scripts for MCP, both EFISs and CDU
Hi Roar, I was still using your old scripts using FSUIPC until today. I decided to give a try to your version 1.3 of OCP4NGX. I worked well until mid-flight, when it seems your software lost the connexion with FSX and the PMDG 737. I was able to turn the knobs and change the values on my MCP (Courses, heading and altitude), but the change did not show in the virtual cockpit. Also, the push buttons were unresponsive as well as the selectors. My EFIS was also unresponsive. Any idea what happened? Also, I noticed that the EFIS knobs (MINS and BARO) do not work like the MCP ones (Course, altitude, etc.) and the change seems very slow (if I turn the MINS knob quickly, the value change slowly, but continue for several seconds when I stop turning), which is quite unusable. Is there something that can be done? I also noticed a small glitch when doing the Master light test: when the dot on the IAS/Mach indicator is lit when you stop the test, it stays on. Thanks a lot on your tremendous work on this software. Fabrice

New OpenCockpits MCP and EFIS drivers
Roar, You're a superstar! I will try them as soon as I'm back home. Just a question: how did you program the ALT INTV button? Like in the previous version with ALT HLD? Thanks a lot! Fabrice

Fullscreen undocked panels
Hi Drew, I just have my second monitor set with extended desktop. I have Win 7 64, but I guess it should also work on 32.

Fullscreen undocked panels
Hi, I confirm. I have the PFD/MFD and engine information on my second monitor and I'm in full screen. Works perfectly, no FPS loss. Note that I don't undock the instrument window, I just click on the instrument to have it maximized then move it on my second screen. Fabrice

NGX and The iPad 2: The Best Solution Yet
Hi All,Interresting, will give it a try. Just one question: I already use a second monitor to display the PFD and ND. Will the iPad (iPad 1 by the way, should I expect less performance?) be detected as a third monitor? Thanks,Fabrice

Opencockpit MCP with PMDX 737NGX READY
Roar, I downloaded your new LUA file, but still have the Vert Speed inverted. Is there something more to do? I cannot say for the other points, I haven't done a complete flight yet. I will keep you posted. Thank you so much!!

Opencockpit MCP with PMDX 737NGX READY
Roar,I just finished my first complete flight (EDDT-EDDF) with your new script, and I have just one thing to say:THANK YOU !!!!That's a complete new experience using the MCP. No need to remind that I have to turn the rotaries slowly, no more interferences with FSX or RC4 due to shared key combination, that's perfect!Just one more minor thing I noticed during approach: when selecting VOR LOC, the VOR LOC led does not light up.Again, thank you! Now, I'm dreaming of a new script for the EFIS... ;-)

Opencockpit MCP with PMDX 737NGX READY
Thanks Roar, your script works very well. The only thing I noticed for now is that the Vertical Speed selction is inverted (positive rate when moving the wheel up and negative rate moving the wheel down). But very good job on the rotaries!
