October 22, 200619 yr Hi Gary, I'd be interested in your settings, temps, etc. for your 3.4 ghz desktop. That sounds like a pretty nice stretch!I was musing on the idea that o/cs always bring out people that cast warnings....I wonder if most of those folks view their computer as a purchased product at the top level, assembly included?I'll bet most overclockers view their computer as a personal assemblyof purchase part with the level of purchaseing applies to the component level. That could explain a different sense of what bad things happen to victems of extreme overclocking. On one hand you have no control, and you see risk to your entire box. On the other hand you have significant contorl, and limited risk.Of course there is a knowledge level earned by homebuilders, borne from experience. Non-home builders may not have that, again contributing to a sense of fear. Finally, some folks really enjoy obeying rules. Others really enjoy bending them. I see this all the time. I attribute the first to soemthing my cat does...he looks for boundarys, like a bag or a box, and then snuggles into those boundaries. Other people's nature is to immediately explore what happens when you put your toe just over a "do not cross" line.If a discussion breaks out between those two types of people in which overclocking is the topic, you'll naturally have disagreement.Cheers,Bob
