Autopilot Will Not Engage

Featured Replies

Anyone having an issue with the autopilot not engaging? It's set in the pedestal with "ENG" for YD and AP, but when I punch ENG on the glareshield, I get no lights and no AP. The buttons will guide the flight director, but they will not light up, nor will the autopilot control the plane.

Thanks

Did this problem just start?  And if so, did you make any changes? I know the latest update of P3Dv5 with HF2 requires the latest updates for the RXP and Flight1 GTNs.

This is just throwing an idea into the mix from outside the box, I don't have the lear, so I apologise if it's dumb.

At what altitude do you try and engage the autopilot, below 400 feet say? Is there a real word min altitude in the lear for engaging the autopilot, below which you cannot do so?

Thanks for the suggestions, but this isn't a radio issue, this is the actual autopilot that does not engage. I will try a reinstall.

I'm not completely sure what you mean by engage, but the complaint before the GTN was updated was the a/c would not follow the AP course. I do think trying a reinstall makes sense.

Engage in this instance means both the ENG and YD buttons are green on the lower pedestal; however, the autopilot will not "take over" the plane when I hit the ENG button on the glareshield.

Does Alt Hold work?

No, sir. Using the glareshield buttons will allow the flight director to issue commands on the attitude indicator, but every time I push the ENG button on the glareshield, I get the autopilot disconnect sound.

Very strange. The ENG button on the center pedestal is just for the Yaw Damper, and the AP should work with or without the Yaw Damper on. Make sure everything is powered up and the AP Master switch is on (located on the lower part of the panel behind the pilot's yoke).

I have not been able to reproduce the problem you describe. Did you try uninstalling the Lear, deleting any files in the Lear directory that survived the uninstall, and then reinstalling the Lear?

The problem is fixed with a re-install. Thanks.
