Suggest to drop Tower and AI views

Featured Replies

I found that "sometimes" when I switch views through the "S" sequence and pass by the TOWER VIEW, my fps drops 50% and does not so far recover. I think top-down causes this too. It may be dumping your precious textures...So what I did was edit the Cameras.cfg in ....'application data/microsoft/FSX' to remove the sections for TOWER, and AI, ... actually I only kept 3: VC, spot, and fly-by, and renumbered these to be consecutive.***make a backup copy of the original first...***Someone else give this a try?

thanks for this, that worked a treat! no more Tower view to cycle through.

Yes that was one of the first mods I made after looking at the cameras.cfg. I've always wanted to disable the tower view on cycle and with FSX its easy as pie :)Phil.

Hi Peppy,I've squelched the flyby and the normal spot - since I can't stand that 'transition' view - locked spot is what I use.But the SDK points out that you only need to addCycleHidden = Trueto any camera definition to knock it out of the viewing rotation - no need to delete.Speaking of cameras and views... Have you unlocked the tower view for panning and position changes?Loyd

Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro

An even better solution is not to cycle at all! Cycling is a waste of time, having to go through all kinds of views you don't need... You can assign hotkeys to up to 10 views: with a single click of a key you are where you want to be! I never ever use more than 10 views, so... Once you've used hotkeys you never ever want to cycle again (although you still can if you really want or need to).Read more about hotkeys here:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...d=368544&page=3
