Semi-Transparent Tarmac

Featured Replies

Hi,I'm having an issue where taxiways, runways, ect. have the ground textures bleed through, making for semi-transparent looking tarmac. However, I can get solid looking tarmac by moving the spot view around a little... sometimes, not always. As you can see taxiway signs are just black boxes too.If anyone is also seeing this or if anyone has any ideas please speak up!Thanks,Jimhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/159504.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/159505.jpgSystem Specs:Intel P4 3.4C(C = Northwood Core) on Asus P4C800-E Deluxe(Intel 875P + ICH5R Chipset), Zalman 7000a-Cu HS/Fan, Enermax RG651P-VE 550W PSU, 2 GB Mushkin eXtreme Performance(2-2-2) Dual Channel PC3200 RAM, Samsung 214T MultiSync 21" Digital LCD Monitor, Sapphire Radeon X800 XT PE Videocard with Catalyst v6.9 Driver, DirectX 9.0c, Creative Audigy2 Platinum Soundcard with OpenAL Beta Driver v2.08.0002, Western Digital 250 GB w/8 MB Cache 7200 RPM Parallel ATA HDD, WinXP Pro SP2, Norton SystemWorks and Personal Firewall 2006

Video card/drivers? I get transparent buildings/airport terminals if my video card is udner too much pressure to render everything. For instance at Boston I had on high detailed clouds, the 2x water, I was landing the goose with lots of autogen and traffic and looking i the VC, all the airport buildings and planes went transparent. I don't recall the taxiways and signs but I think it means wre have an underpowered video card

Could be. You did look at my System Specs didn't you? Our cards may not be the lastest and greatest, but they aren't totally ancient and underpowered either! :)Still, I hear you, it's possible that they're just being taxed too much by this newer sim. However, I have this happen at small airports out in the middle of nowhere and frame rate is as high as my lock(24), as well as at large airports that are taxing my framerate fairly hard(12-14). Could also just be that our drivers need to be updated by the manufacturers in order to be completely compatible with this newer version of the sim. I am currently using the lastest driver offered by ATI as you can see in my specs, Catalyst 6.9.Cheers

Hi,I've seen this too, although only at an airport I added an AFCAD to. Is this with an added AFCAD file or a totally default airport?I've got a Radeon 9800 Pro 128 MB.Take care,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

Hi Tom,This is at a totally default airport. I haven't added and AFCADS to FSX at all.Cheerio M8

Looks like shader problems.

Shader problems? Please elaborate if possible...I too have seen the momentary transparent buildings, and it goes away within a second or so. It only seems to occur when there is a very heavy load on the system...such as at a busy airport.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2.5 ghz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (94.47), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian

>Hi Tom,>>This is at a totally default airport. Pretty sure Andre's correct....although our cards support shader 2.0, they prolly aren't the best for it, mines not a 7900gtx, and your isnt a radeon x1900xt, therefore they just don't have enough uuumph to load everything all at once. Does your VC ever load with just the gauges then the rest of the plane? Mine will do that in dense areas if Ihave autrogen turned up

'Does your VC ever load with just the gauges then the rest of the plane?'Nope. Well, depends on what you mean exactly I guess. If I'm in spot view and switch back to the VC the first thing that appears are the gauges, but the rest of the panel appears almost instantly afterwards.Thank you for your reply and input. For both you and Andre, as I stated in one of my ealier replies, I had this problem even at small airports. I say 'had', becuse I change some settings and have done a tweak or two(FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.44) and it seems to have gone away for now, I think. A little more time will tell for sure.Cheers

Probably video memory is what is needed...probably 512mb would help.> Does your VC ever load with just the gauges then the rest of the>plane? We actually have VERY similar hardware, look at my sig. The only major difference is my vid card and power supply. how do you reduce to 512? Is that in the configuration file?
