MSFS 2020

Recommended Posts

Hi guys ,

Yesterday I downloaded the 95Gb of MSFS 2020 and had a first glimpse of EHAM airport. I tried the PSXT 32 bit version, it connected to the Sim and the detection of  EHAM airport went well which was promising but unfortunately it failed to create aircraft in MSFS 2020.

Today I downloaded and installed the MSFS 2020 SDK, and recompiled PSXT with the SimConnect stuff in it. However, still no luck in creating aircraft...

Then I found the MSFS 2020 SimConnect documentary and red that the SimConnect functions for creating AI aircraft are not yet supported...

So no PSXT for MSFS 2020 yet...

EDIT: it seems that vPilot is working with MSFS, so there must be a way to create aircraft. Maybe it is a matter of SimConnect version. Will look further.

Nico

The SDK is very simple at this moment.

Adfons like PMDG and FsLabs will not work either.

First MS to release a way more enhanced SDK. Without it it is a game ...

Nico,

Thank you for jumping on this. Really appreciate the exploration and letting us know.

I tried the new FSUIPC 7 beta too. Simconnect works well enough to remap controls but destroys frame rate when it's in use. They have a lot to fix with simconnect.

All the best.

I made some progress:

Installed liveries Megapack v7 in the MSFS Community folder.

Made some changes to AILGenerator so it can read the aircraft.cfg files of MSFS (that are different from FSX/P3D). It detected 90 valid liveries.

PSXT 32 bit now generates AI aircraft in MSFS! Although I do not know yet what the alternative command in MSFS is for View Aircraft....so I cannot zoom in to the generated aircraft.

Also the SDK bug causes lots of stutters, but that should be fixed soon.

To be continued...

Hi Nico - any news in this topic?

With the MSFS sep 3 update the AI aircraft move smoothly. I only after a while get the "Error SimConnect problem: no user aircraft position update received for 10 seconds" problem... like some of you already had with FSX/P3D.
Will compile a PSXT with the SimConnect packed with MSFS to see if this helps. Sofar I've just used the 32 bit PSXT 18.6.

Another problem is that you cannot switch the user view to an AI aircrraft. It looks like they have left that option out. Which is a pity because you can only see the AI aircraft close by, during taxiiing. There is also no Tower view...

That does not help the SimConnect.lib in MSFS is much smalller then the one in PSXT 32 bit  18.6. It does not compile.

Nico

in one of the posts you mentioned that you cannot reproduce that error yourself.
I wonder if using the MSFS you’ll be able to trace it for previous platforms, or are you abandoning old sims all together..... (?)

Having observed all the shortcomings of the new sim I am not planning to move for a quite a while,
I wonder if it would be possible to still look into the old "10 second Error"

I have a great opportunity now to study the "10 second error". In MSFS I get it all the time....

I am also running little nav map and it shows that ten seconds before the error ALL live aircraft suddenly disappear from the nav map at once. But why? It is certainly not on command of PSXT...

And ofcourse, if I find the problem, it will be solved in the versions for P3D/FSX too.

If it helps you with the Simconnect error, I figured out, that if i am using FSLabs A320, I get the error noticably more frequent then with the NGXu for example. It happens especially during flight preperation when the MCDU is busy loading route, winds and is doing the communication with GSX. It is usually not right when i click something but a couple moments or minutes after the action is done. Maybe an automatic "relaunch" function after the error occurs could save us at least the the closing and restarting of the application?

A relaunch is not possible I'm afraid. SimConnect is 'hanging' at the time of the error, it does not respond to commands anylonger...

PSXT 32 bit version 18.7 together with  liveries info (Megapack installed in the Community folder) generated by  AIL 7.0 will give first results.

10 seconds problem not yet solved, but it lasts longer before it occurs. Tried with 125 life aircraft...

See it as a beta version
