August 19, 20205 yr I have autopilot enabled, and Altitude hold ON, set at 14000 feet, but its not holding, in fact it does nothing. I can still control the plane using the yolk pitch axis. Additionally the speed keeps changing despite having speed hold on as well. When having the altitude hold on, the vertical speed is off and not displayed, when I turn it on, the altitude hold goes off. Basically its not working how it worked in FSX. I'm flying the 747. Any quick steps that I may be missing?
August 20, 20205 yr The autopilot in FSX and previous was quite dumbed down from the real thing, whereas this one is more accurate. I haven't tried the 747 yet, but the simple answer is is doesn't work the same as what you are used to.
August 20, 20205 yr IIRC alt hold is supposed to hold current altitude, rather than the number in the mcp. If you want to change it, you would enable fl ch mode, and if it’s working right it will switch to alt hold when reaching altitude. I haven’t flown the 747 in sim yet, so I’m not sure how well it is simulated yet. Also your auto throttles are turned off in the pic, so that is likely why it isn’t holding speed.
August 20, 20205 yr First select altitude, then while climbing select a VS or other pitch mode....press CMD A to turn on AP....plane will climb to selected altitude. Oh - don't press HOLD for altitude....that isn't how you would climb or descend to an altitude. Also your SPD hold isn't working because your A/T ARM switch is off. Autothrottle needs to be connected to SPD hold. 747 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Edited August 20, 20205 yr by ryanbatcund | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
