MS Servers Finally Catching Up with Demand?

Featured Replies

I bought MSFS this afternoon resigned to the fact that I might not be able to try it until late evening. Braced myself and started the installation hoping it wouldn’t take more than 2-3 hours...or longer...to download and install. Much to my surprise, it was ready to run after 50 minutes!

Maybe the initial demand surge has tapered off? Or maybe they’ve upgraded/reconfigured something. I know that the installation is both downloading and simultaneous unpacking of compressed files so it might have also been helped by the fact that I installed it on a just-built new system with empty SSDs. Also, my internet speed is usually very good but I’m not on fiber or anything. Btw, this was Premium version on Steam.

If anyone is holding off or had a bad first experience installing, maybe give it another try now?

The better solution to ALL simmers around the world who use PC's was to have it on a CD set.  But, of course, those who actually bought the set means it needs to be in the CD or DVD player in order to use MSFS.  Why could CD's not be made copy proof or encrypted, perhaps with a key code to be able to use them as a one-time installation - no more need for the CD's except for a re-install.

This would have made the installation really easy for everyone instead of waiting up to 20 hours to D/L, and often accompanied by loads of installations problems.  But hey, that's Micosoft for ya...

On initial download now and connection has been maxing out my plan at average of 90Mbps for the past hour,
