Three wonderful movies...
It's a cliche, but America, as well as many other counties in the world were changed forever in the '60s - for better or for worse. Big budget heartwarming movies are a rarity nowadays. I myself have not sat in a movie theater for more than 15 years. Today, ultra-violence and super heroes abound in films, all appealing to the youngins. Not my thing - maybe I'm just an old curmudgeon?

TIME magazine lists FSX in "Top 50 Best Video Games of All Time"
I think the most universally accepted definition of a game is it that it requires both winners and losers. Even on a video game, someone is always trying to get a higher score than the previous best. I suppose on a flight sim app, you're a winner if you land "safely", and if you crash, well, ya know...

FPS improvement going from i7 2600 to i7 6700k
overspeed3 replied to LEMDSpotter's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcA lot of replies in the two big sim forums give advice to build your own rig - not everyone out there has the knack to build their own rig - especially someone not that familiar with installing very pricey electronics (one spark of static electricity can fry a bunch of delicate circuitry). It requires watching a lot of UTube videos, a very cool hand, and a logical mind. I've dabbled with the innards of a lot PC's over the years - even recently installed and cloned a second SSD card on my new gaming rig (via UTube), incurring lot of forehead sweat - But for sure, I paid a lot extra to have someone else to properly put the rest of it together.

What's Your longest Flight in FSX
Sorry, but when you have a wife, you cannot possible take really long flights without saving. (That would really be a kind of cheating). Thus, the longest flight I recall was Heathrow to Sydney in a Qantas A380, with a re-fueling stop in Singapore - saved three times, but no accel. or time compress. I believe it was about 9,300 nm. (BTW, I live in Florida).

John F Kennedy to Ronald Reagan
Were they filming "Fear the Walking Dead" in the cabin? Seriously, great scenery! (I once to lived in downtown Manhattan for many years 'till 9/11).

FlightSimLabs A320 Ready for Takeoff!
NDFLIEGER: Sometimes I find registering for many flight sim sites, or their forums is almost like filling-out a mortgage application: It's like, your asking them for money. And after all that, you have to put together the little puzzles.

FlightSimLabs A320 Ready for Takeoff!
While just sitting here waiting patiently for the PMDG 747, I now know what my next purchase will probably be...

The 727 Crash Documentary
I watched this video twice before, and and I still find it to be a unique experiment to try to improve airliner safety...

Massive number of undefined folders on c drive?
Whenever I've seen these type of temporary folders, I always deleted them with no apparent problems, provided that these folders are EMPTY - if not I leave them alone... Sometimes, however, the folder can contain a sub-folder with another long set of numbers, also empty. (Over time, these temp. folders seem to multiply exponentially).

Not impressed with Vatsim!
Wow! A four-year old post revival. Unfortunately, I noticed the actual date posted after perusing most of the suspension diatribe. But I wonder if Dashik is still flying VATSIM today?

6700K Affinity Mask
Yeah, I was also born to be wild, but it just did not work out that way

6700K Affinity Mask
I also have a 6700K not O/C, using Steam and HT on - I've had problems with most planes "porpoising" above 4x speed (except for the PMDG T7's, don't know why) So I tried AM 221 and 228 yesterday, and that seemed solve the problem with porpoising above 4x for all other aircraft, fingers crossed... But as there still seems to be no definitive answer, I'll keep experimenting with other AM numbers from time to time.

No longer at the 'top of the heap'...Intel is cutting 12,000 jobs next month...
ytzpilot: Quantum computers will probably always be way out of the reach of regular folks due to the near absolute-zero temps needed to run them - unless, of course, there's absolute breakthrough...

Well, I did my part to help out Intel over the years - bought about five generations of their chips

How to change drive for FSX-SE
Which drive has (or will have) your OS? I recently cloned an 128GB SSD c: drive (with my OS - Win 10, and FSX-SE on it) to a new much larger capacity SSD - 500GB. I re-named the larger SSD to be the c: drive, and gave another unused letter to the old SSD. (Steam is in the root dir, of course). Steam worked fine without a reinstall. My logic (I think?) was that Steam & Win 10 would still be recognized by the registry in the c: drive.

CPU load in heavy situations : Affinity Mask setting ?
Unfortunately, I don't have your AM setting answer - I have FSX-SE with an Intell 6700K chip not O/C'd. I set the AM to 14. (I think this is correct for my CPU). I get really good FPS with few stutters. Unless I missed it, I don't see your CPU type mentioned in your post...

A small Papua adventure
I'm not a Brit either ('cause I was born in the USA) I discovered that particular video by accident looking for something else. But your adventure looks so much like the video - it's amazing (including even the rooster). The actual "runways" in the mountains of Papua are the scariest thing I can image trying to land on. Those pilots have to have nerves of steel + plus a quart of adrenalin running thru their blood...

A small Papua adventure
Watched this interesting one hour UTube video re: Young British guys in their 20's going to Papua to get flying experience in the Pilatus. (and risking their lives on really short, crude runways) so they can one day return to the UK and fly for the big commercial airlines... (Don't have the URL for the video).

Intel Core i7 4790k or i7 6700k
overspeed3 replied to jpperks's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcI bought a pre-built gaming rig last November with 6700K installed, not O/C - I get 40 FPS (set-rate) consistently with very few stutters & sliders almost maxed on FSX=SE...

FSLabs Concorde Released
UPDATE: Finally got the box in Steam "Enable Steam Overlay In-Game" to stay "unchecked - that did the trick! All keys & shortcuts appear to be working, fingers-crossed... Now I can try the Barbados route (where I honeymooned many years ago).

FSLabs Concorde Released
Never mind the CTRL+E humor - I purchased the Concorde a month ago, and have Steam. Many of my keys or shortcuts are not either not responsive, or there is a delay in execution. Can't even get rid of the FSX taskbar on top. Tried one solution in this thread to un-check the box in Steam "Enable Steam Overlay In-Game" as a possible solution. But the box just reverts back to "checked" when Steam is re-started. No joy. Went to the FS Labs forum for this problem - no solution there either. I have tried to take the Concorde up for some "test" flights, but the keyboard problem makes it difficult to fly. I am perplexed. Don't know if remapping keys in FSUIPC would help? Anybody else have this problem or possible solution?
