October 28, 200619 yr In large caps to make sure some people get it.NO YOU WANT RUN INTO ACTIVATION PROBLEMS EVEN IF YOU REINSTALL IT A HUNDRED TIMES ON THE SAME COMPUTER. SEEMS LIKE THIS RUMOR JUST WANT GO AWAY.Caps off.The tweaks I listed will not give you a crash to desktop. Messing around with your textures might if it gets one messed up. Overclocking your video card and cpu can also give you CTD. That can be a real problem because an overclocked cpu or video card my work like a charm on some stuff and CTD on others.

I'm also reasonably certain that I may well encounter activation problems with this problematic FSX anti piracy scheme if I make any significant hardware changes to get this beast to run properly on this same computer that I now have FSX installed on. This seems to be the experience of many others as well. Secondly, I never once insinuated, or even thought, that the tweaks you refer to have anything to do with the CTD's I'm now experiencing. I haven't messed around with my textures either. Thirdly, I have not, nor will I, overclock my video card or cpu to get this sim to run.If you ever have a CTD problem I'd love to hear about it.Cheers, flykingVirtual AviatorSystem Specs:XP PRO SP2AMD Athlon 64 2413MHzNVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT, 256MBMemory: 2048MBSB Audigy 2 ZS Audio
October 29, 200619 yr Why to people defend this MS activation thing so much, i dont want it, take it way, its a pain. Ok make me put the disc in, thats fine. These MS people are full of beep!!While i'm here, the sli thing 'dual monitor wont work if we make sli work' what a load of tosh, duh instead of investing in some rubbish none activation system, spend a little bit of time writing a subroutine that allows people to chose multi mon or sli.Anybody who wishes to have a copy with out purchasing it can do so very easily. Activation will never stop piracy it will just encourage more people to find out how to get a pirate copy. And the computer fair people may have to do a little more than just copy the dvd, ie create a hacked copy and then replicate that. What a waste of time and effort this all is.

Many of you are fee-paying beta testers :-lol. Purchase MS Office and you will get immediate results. There's no faffing around reducing file sizes, tweaking files .... what nonsense! :(. FSX isn't a toolbox ... it's a GAME. October 29, 200619 yr I'm really curious to know what super hardware we are gonna need to bring FSX up to par with FS9 in the performance catagory?1) You will need a top of the line Duo or dual core processor? Well from what I've been reading FSX isnt utilizing the top of the line Dual core processors of today so I really fail to see how it gonna do it tomorrow without a complete overhaul of the game engine!2) You will need a top of the line DX10 capable video card when they become available? I find this very suspicious and I see dx10 as nothing more than making hardware more compatable with working with Vista. Just speculation on my part!P.S To the ACES team and Microsoft. FLUFF AINT ENUFF. As real as it gets you say. Theres nothing like popping up my new Garmin GPS in that new Airbus you gave gave me..THANK YOU. You guys should really consider putting on the box. BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED & SOME ESSEMBLY MAY BE REQUIRED! I EQUATE THIS LATEST INSTALLMENT OF MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR TO SHAVING WITH A DULL RAZORBLADE....IT FREAKING HURTS!!I also just wanted to add in an attempt not to be completely negative about your latest installment of Flight Simulator , I will give you this...The blurries in FSX are by far much prettier than they ever were in FS9 even with all my 3rd party addons:)

Agreed too! Ive said as much in several of my posts. I can only conclude that many simmers actually spend more time tweaking than flying and enjoy it as an end in itself. There is no problem with that but I assumed that a flight simulator was for flight simulation not pulling apart the files and folders and tweaking. It should be called FS tweaker. That word must be the most used word on this forum since the release of FSX!!! I know, I know, tweaking is half the fun of your hobby?!x(
October 29, 200619 yr MS itself has stated games on Vista will be 15-20 % slower on Vista than XP....thats a good chunk of frames...how is that a step ahead...more like 2 steps back.DX10 uses Pixel Shader model 4.0...most of us have cards which are PS3.0 and FSX uses PS2.0 (2 year old shader model LOL, even SH3 uses 3.0 and it was in developement alongside of FSX, earlier if I'm not mistaken)....How is MS going to utilize the power of a DX10 card with it's PS4.0 unified pipelines without rewriting the entire graphics/shading engine? There not...to me this is an excuse to get people to shut up :)Quad Core is coming, but seeing as FSX cannot even use dual core properly, whats the point?I keep reading about SLI and how it doesn't work for FSX...and how Vista will fix this? Why would running Vista with SLI be any different than running XP with SLI ??Activation...I read how people say it works !! People proclaiming that there is nothing wrong with it!!!...a quick scan of these forums says otherwise. MS got cheap and ditched everything that could have made FSX a better game. My personal opinion. No offense intended to anyone.Just some points to consider.Larry
