excellent performance from low-medium end pc

Featured Replies

Got an i7 2600k that is 10 years old, 16GB DDR3 ram and a GTX960.

Had a smooth install, no issues, except that CH yoke is not recognized.

I put global rendering to high, vsinc on and max fps to 30. In remote areas and small to medium towns, I get smooth performance (I am fine with 30fps), no stutters. Never expected this.

Sim looks visually stunning on my low to medium end PC. Great job Asobo!

UPDATE: even a dense photogrammetry place like Milano my modest PC seems to handle quite well, I think I am getting 20-25 fps in this region at global HIGH settings and scattered clouds.

same here, its awesome.

you need to setup your yoke by hand.

i really really dont get all the whining and bashing of the sim.

i guess this says mainly a lot about the gamers.

Thanks any tips on where I can find info on how to manually setup the yoke? The UI is not exactly intuitive in this regard!

This one helped me.

I'm in the same boat, and now I've cranked up my settings to Ultra. Loving the sim. Getting constant 25fps.... true cinematic framerate in Ultra!

Windows 10 Home 64-bit; CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K; GPU: GEFORCE RTX 2060 Super 8GB; MB: Gigabyte Z87-HD3; RAM: 32GB@1866 MHz; HD: Samsung 850 Pro 500GB SSD x 2, ; Display: 3840x1080 (Samsung 1080p/60 24" + Samsung 1080p/60 24")

I have to admit I have an i7-8550u which settles around 3ghz during gameplay but with a GTX 1050, 16gb ram, 1tb SSD and I struggle to gain 25fps solid on low to medium. I uninstalled for now, pending a MS Store refund (as I will purchase via Steam instead), but has there been any update at all to improve the performance?

Yes I am on a laptop due to travelling for work a lot, and I am not expecting ultra at 60fps but I am unable to gain what you are saying here. Perhaps certain setups are not mixing well with the sim.

Only a year old and don't want to fork out again, but I will if I have no choice.

I think the problem you are having is laptop grade components probably can't deal with the load. Honestly, you should be expecting Low @ 1080p with your setup. But remember, just because it says Low, it should still look decently good.

I am thinking that too and have had a search around for an upgrade.... bit annoying as I thought I would be ok when purchasing last August, but I suppose software moves on and hardware needs to be updated. I will keep playing with it though, to see what I can achieve.

If you take a look at the user benchmarks site, the i7 8550u is actually slower than the minimum requirements of i5-2500k: https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-8550U-vs-Intel-Core-i5-2500K/m320742vs619

What a good website, not seen that before. Thanks.

Not overly computer savvy when it comes to the details of processors etc, so apologies if it appears I am expecting more than I should be.

I still think I will shop around, but that is a good website to use. Thanks.

No worries at all. I like to use that website for comparisons, and showing how a 9 year old i5 beats a 3 year old mobile i7 for gaming. I also wish I could just use a laptop these days, but, just not possible to get the performance if you want to play demanding games at the highest quality. Actually, since most mainstream games are designed to work on a XBOX or PS, which have an extremely underpowered CPU (think crappy android table from 5-6 years ago), most PCs could run those games just fine. But anything built for PC is usually much more demanding. When you shop around, make sure to also find out if it's a mobile variant of the graphics card, since that changes the performance characteristics as well. There are gaming laptops that have desktop level parts, but, those are usually quite big, heavy, and have horrible battery life.
