Question re: new released payware airports

Featured Replies

I have seen pictures from both ORBX and Gaya Sim, while they certainly look impressive I wonder if they make use of all new scenery tech in MSFS, such as undulating runways?

Not always, so be careful and read reviews.

ORBX London City has a flat runway and various other "hurridly thrown around" bits and pieces in it, such as the Palm beach Fire Tender hiding in a shed.  (also has some issues with approaches and other bits and bobs)   Now ORBX have said they will correct some of this, but we don't know when.

Others do use the terrain as they should.

I think it's fair to say that Asobo has set the bar really really high on what is available default, and the re-porting of airports from other sims is not going to be of the same standard as many of the default airports and miss some of the new features.   Yes the downloads may have better buildings and possibly more accurate placement, but there is so much new tech in this sim that it really needs a whole new mentality by the add-on manufacturers to come to terms with it.

I have had ORBX add-ons in other sims for years and got to the stage where a new ORBX product was a must buy,  now I have had that illusion seriously shattered with their initial approach to MSFS with both London City and London Landmarks (which was dire)..

Now your mileage may vary and you may look for different things than I do, but i would close on the old statement...  "buyer beware",  especially in these early days.

System specs...   CPU AMD5950,  GPU AMD6900XT,  ROG crosshair VIII Hero motherboard, Corsair 64 gig LPX 3600 mem, Air cooling on GPU,   Kraken x pump cooling on CPU.  Samsung G7 curved 27" monitor at 2k resolution ULTRA default settings.

I also wonder about how these new payware airports are going to look when Asobo introduce seasons.

Don't want a summery airport sticking out amongst winter scenery surrounding it.

May all your landings be safe ones!

I don`t think that`s a problem for some time if not years.
