Hi All,I just had to report this. Since FSX came out, I've had my frame rates capped at various levels (but never higher than 25), and was generally experiencing fps in the high teens, with only occasional forays into the single digits. After reading elsewhere in the forum that many have reported a significant fps boost by removing any cap and setting it to Unlimited, I decided, what the heck, I'll give it a try. The other change I made was to update my Nvidia driver up to version 93.50.Wow!Now I'm flying around New Orleans, fps averaging in the mid 20's, little or no stuttering. Mind you, traffic already was on approximately 25% land, sea, and air. Well I said, lets just challenge this baby a little. Certainly a little autogen will bring it to its knees, Herr Docter? Turned up autogen to Scarce.Doggone. The baby's still flying and she's flying smooth!Well, New Orleans is no real challenge, after all, it's all flat land.Time to take the gloves off! I decided to jump to Telluride, CO.What have we here?? I'm still getting quite nice results!Folks, I'm still testing and will provide additional details and photo documentation of my settings, but in the meantime ---1. Set your fps to Unlimited.2. If using Nvidia card, update driver to at least 93.50,Chuck Yeager passed the Sound Barrier and for me, FSX has just passed the Enjoyability Barrier!-RickPS - No I have not yet tried the Ultimate Challenge to go anywhere near New York City. Lets not expect miracles, for goodness sake! ----------- My System -----------P4 @ 2.53 GHz / 1GB RAM / NVIDIA GeForce 6800XT, 256MB / Windows XP Home

I'm excited. Can you post the link to the nVidia 93.50?I can only see 91.47 for my 7900GS on nVidia.com.

me can only see same 91.47 - want your FPS with this new driver.:-)

www.guru3d.com is your friend for early video driver releases.Just don't anyone come moaning here if it screws up their XP installation :D (Which it certainly shouldn't do, but since this is a US based board, I don't want anyone threatening to sue me!)

Fly over NYC or Seattle with Autogen and traffic on and see the frames .... :)

As far as a link for the 93.50 driver, I got mine from www.tweaksrus.com.I'm trying to get some representative screen shots to post and I must admit I'm having a problem.I tried FS Screen, and while it works outside FSX, I cannot get it to work from within FSX.Then I tried Fraps. It works in FSX, but also carries an overhead which slows things down and so the shots don't demonstrate the real results I've been getting. There must be a better way to get screen shots from FSX! Can anyone help tell me the best way to do this? As I can get some decent shots, I'll be glad to post them here.-Rick----------- My System -----------P4 @ 2.53 GHz / 1GB RAM / NVIDIA GeForce 6800XT, 256MB / Windows XP Home

Yep, see the PS at the end of my original post. Flying in a big city with autogen on is generally a recipe for disaster for me. :)-Rick----------- My System -----------P4 @ 2.53 GHz / 1GB RAM / NVIDIA GeForce 6800XT, 256MB / Windows XP Home

Just press the V key and then look in My Documents/My Pictures under Flight Simulator X files.

Thanks for the info Howard.I now have some shots available for upload to this forum, but I'm not clear how to do it! (I've never uploaded screen shots before! :-eek)Can anyone give me a step-by-step? The forum instructions to do this are quite vague.(BTW Ken Salter I sent you a private message!)-Rick----------- My System -----------P4 @ 2.53 GHz / 1GB RAM / NVIDIA GeForce 6800XT, 256MB / Windows XP Home:-eek

Look like beta drivers according to the guru site....96.89 is even 4 days newer which is also available as a beta driver.Use at your own peril.

I've had several unpropmted reboots from the 96.89 drivers in FSX - no blue screen, not CTD, no error message, just a reboot.Did try the 93.50 drivers, but they seem not to suit my card.Allcott

Wow this sounds very interesting, will have to try it out on my x2 4400+ thanks for the post and good luck to everyone on there quest for good FPS.jason
