August 29, 20205 yr Recent complaints I've read on here about New York city included 'Apocalyptic' and 'too many trees'. Are we all seeing different things? Heres what I saw and yes, it was quite barren until I got close. I figured it was because I had never been there before and it took time to download. I just can't tell why we seem to be seeing multiple sims at the same time. Edited August 29, 20205 yr by sightseer | Dave | I've been around for most of my life. August 30, 20205 yr I don't have the sim but I've seen this in many videos, the mid distance objects are very thin and as one approaches the pop into the near scene. I wasn't sure about the issue you mention or whether or this was related to the settings and video card capabilities. Now that you have flown the area, try leaving a good distance and see if the effect is better. Bryan Wallis aka "fltsimguy" Maple Bay, British Columbia Near CAM3
August 30, 20205 yr If you're close or are using a wide angle it looks fine. But if you zoom up from a distance it won't look great. OR if you are far away it will look bad. Example.... wide angle pic looks fine! Here I'm at 5000 ft. But zoom in and it looks nasty. farout by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr zoomed by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Edited August 30, 20205 yr by ryanbatcund | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
August 30, 20205 yr Author I just didn't understand the complaints I was reading. I had just finished an enjoyable flight starting at Bridgeport and heading down over Long Island and then down around near the Statue of Liberty and then north along the river to KSWF. At first the downtown area was a little desolate but I had never been there before and then the city buildings popped in and it looked good to me and as I was heading north along the river, I got into an external view and got real close to the ground and heard the birds chirping in the trees (the churds burping in the trees) and it was all really cool. Then I get on here to read how bad New York city looked and how it was 'apocalyptic' and 'all covered with trees' and someone else said there were server issues and all this time Im wondering what they are talking about because the shot above was taken during that so called server issue/apocalyptic/covered in trees period. I have to admit that I feel quite intolerant lately of all these graphics complaints that show no pictures to illustrate the issues. There have been SO MANY COMPLAINTS and some have merit but others feel like trolling. I should have posted this picture in the thread that inspired it. | Dave | I've been around for most of my life. August 30, 20205 yr Here I did a better comparison in your area. It's just that the LOD (the level of detail) is stunted when you zoom in so close. From a distance this view looks great....but when you zoom in the buildings look pretty bad imo. Also I added the tree pic....the buildings are swimming in trees citynormal by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr cityzoom by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr treeeees by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Edited August 30, 20205 yr by ryanbatcund trees | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
August 30, 20205 yr Author OK Ryan ...here is your second pic in Google Street View (first two pics) and your third pic as just shown in Google 3D top down view. I dont think MSFS is very wrong here. My first pic here shows street view of the housing complex on the right in your second pic. My second pic here shows the whitish building at the end of the interstate/major road where the bridge comes in. Its surrounded by trees in MSFS and in real life. Your third pic was hard to find but you see in Google that MSFS has it about right imo. Edited August 30, 20205 yr by sightseer | Dave | I've been around for most of my life. August 30, 20205 yr I think the Azure engine is making the trees too high and too voluminous... I can live with it there in NYC....there are other places in the country where the trees have taken over hehe. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
