August 31, 20205 yr Anybody using Pilot's FS Global real Weather (FSGRW) in P3DV5? If so how does it work with the Enhanced Atmospherics Beta enabled and not enabled? Like to know before I take the plunge and purchase the new V5 version. Used FSGRW in FSX for a number of years and really liked the simple user interface. John Cottreau Specs: black box thingy with spinning fans, lights and a bunch of wires that go to screens with pretty colours and a keyboard with many keys. The black box thingy also has a push button activated coffee cup holder. John C.
August 31, 20205 yr I am using it with v5 like I did with V4. It works both with EA enabled and disabled. 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0
August 31, 20205 yr Tell me.....which weather program has the most realistic weather for V5.....Active Sky for V5 OR FSGRW for V5? I checked the Global Real Weather website and the do have a specific version for P3dv5. Additionally, I do notice that when I do not use Active Sky, my sim runs smoother and stutters and pauses do not seem to occur. I would then assume that Active Sky affects performance for SOME computers and maybe not for others. That fact alone would make me pay $50 for FSGRW if it does not have that performance hit. I do know that in this forum, GSalden usually has ZERO problems with V5 working smoothly for him. It could be that his weather program is more compliant with V5. Don't know...just thinking out loud here. Stan

September 1, 20205 yr I use FSGRW as it is the only weather program that is able to sync 3D clouds over the network... And it looks good. I do have AS too. You must start P3d first and then load the weather program. With Active Sky I could start the program first...but that's no big deal. I really liked the weather program's accuracy because I tried it in various locations around the world where there was significant weather. It did well everywhere including my own home airport (KABE). I had no performance problems at all with all the flights. Stan
September 1, 20205 yr Are the upper winds fixed with FSGRW in P3D V5? There was a problem with shifting winds / incorrect winds in v5. Edited September 1, 20205 yr by rob0203

Stan I started FSGRW first, then P3DV5 and it worked ok, but will keep that in mind if I have issues. Seems to work ok and runs smoothly. Like it better with the EA turned off. John C. Only got one flight so far with FSGRW. 95% of my flying is low and slow. today, went to 7,000 feet and the winds seemed ok. The next time I'm at FL20 or higher will see how it works and reply.
