San Francisco!

I am at that point in my Cannibal Queen flight where the author gives someone a ride from Petaluma to the Golden Gate bridge.  He had previously given rides to people going out to Point Reyes.  I've got my Golden Age Simulations Super Stearman with my Cannibal Queen paint job and considerable custom engine programming to match what is described in the book about as good as I can get it in MSFS, and made the flight.  Few clouds weather theme rather than real world weather.  This was a sightseeing flight after all. 🙂

I flew out to Point Reyes, then turned toward the Golden Gate bridge.  I kept an eye on the task manager as this was the first time I'd visited the city that had featured so prominently in the previews, and I was worried that I'd overrun my 16 gig RAM.  I flew around Alcatraz, then south around the city, back toward Oakland, then back to Petaluma, about an hour and 15 minutes total.

I was very surprised.  The highest memory usage I saw was 6 gig, and the highest Internet usage was 17 GBps (out of my 33 total).  The whole time I never saw a single stutter, frame rates stayed high enough not to notice, and everything looked great.  I even checked my settings to make sure I was online.  I keep seeing evidence that MSFS is limiting your settings to keep within hardware limits.  I wonder what people who hit 18 gig RAM usage are seeing that I am not.

San Francisco is gorgeous.  If you haven't checked it out yet, I highly recommend it.  If I'm not going to bust my RAM limits I'm going to have to check out New York. 🙂

Note:  I did not try to fly under the Golden Gate bridge.  No sense tempting fate. 😄

You'll be fine in New York.. This isn't like FSX when you add in a huge city your frames tank and your system files for divorce and expects alimony..  It's incredibly well optimized in super dense areas.  Over Manhattan I'm using 22GB of RAM (32GB) and that's not much different than when I'm flying over other areas.  It's only using that much because it's available to use.
