Anyone found a good tutorial for the 787 especially the FMC and the autopilot?  The A320 is pretty easy to use, but I had a ton of problems with the 787.  Took it on a short trip across Japan.  Not only did the map displays show totally different views at the same range, but it seemed to hunt all over trying to follow the plan.  Then due to not understanding how to make it descend correctly I ended up at 5000 feet right over the airport (and it wasn't following the approach either that was loaded in through the flight planning). 

I tried putting in the approach again and after giving it the correct transition it first wanted to add a waypoint 50nm back the way I came and didn't even show it in the Legs page so I couldn't delete it.  Couldn't seem to find a way to send it direct to the correct waypoint either.  Then I ended up in the side of a mountain in the dark because ATC told me to descend to 2600 feet and apparently wasn't paying attention to where I was. 

I bought the premium deluxe version specifically for this aircraft and this seems a bit ridiculous.  I've flown many payware aircraft in the past (PSS A320, 747.....PMDG 737NGX, QW BAE146, etc.) and I don't know if this thing is just bugged to death or what.

Thanks I’ll check it out. I actually did think of that when I was setting it up last night but only flipped through the FMC stuff briefly to make sure I thought I understood what I was doing and had it set up enough.  Apparently I should have just really used it lol. 

Ok between a couple of videos and the QW stuff I think my brain has been refreshed on operating a Boeing. The only thing I can’t find is what the function is of pressing the middle of the knob where you set the altitude in the MCP.

I still can't figure out how to get the 787 to fly a basic direct GPS route lol.

OMG this is aircraft is the most buggy piece of junk ever.  Trying to fix a routing issue (it insists on putting a nonexistent in the FMC Legs/etc. pages waypoint into the plan/map display) and the sim just hard froze as I was coming in KLAS.  I give up.  Talk about another waste of 2 hours of my time.

Choose the 787 Tutorial.  Obviously MS has not modeled as many of the systems, but it gives a decent overview of how to do things.  Really annoying that the Approach page isn't modeled to give flaps speeds, approach/landing configs etc like the A320 has.  It shows it on the FMCDU but the key is "blued out" so you can't actually use it (i.e. INOP).

To expand more on my routing issue I was about 40nm past NNAVY and I had selected 26R ILS approach in the sim's flight planning page with a FLYES transition.  ATC in the sim decided I was cleared with the BLD transition though.  So I tried to modify the transition in the approach and the FMC decided to send me BACK to NNAVY.  I was trying to clear that out (it didn't show in legs or RTE), somehow managed to wipe out the entire plan after a few tries.  Added in the approach again after modifying the now empty RTE page to go direct from DAG vor to KLAS and adding back in the 26R approach this time with the BLD transition.  Plane starts turning a 180 back towards the airport to get on the new nav path and then hard freezes the sim.
