September 25, 20205 yr So i had already moved the flight simulator install location to another drive. I decided i wanted to test a superfast nvme i had on hand. I used acronis to clone the drive, changed the drive letter to the old one but flight simulator wont launch but rather goes to install gaming services and then snaps back to the same screen. The issue i think stems around windows apps using volume id's to determine where things are installed. There is a registry key that shows these volumes and a way via Powershell to pull the listing as well. I'm unclear how to make the change safely. So for now i've just reverted to the old drive letter on the old drive and attempted a move to get around this issue. Perhaps someone has found an easier way via clone and settings changes? September 25, 20205 yr Moderator Put the new drive in the system and give it a letter. Then go into Settings/Apps MSFS and move it to the new drive. After test - move it back. Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160

October 2, 20205 yr Author Well matters got worse, i upgraded my hardware, same OS on same harddrive but new motherboard, now i cant get past the digital ownership install, always errors out with 0x80073D12 I've tried the usual tricks and even trying C drive vs my V drive, cant get it to install. Seems to be just flight sim specific too, other windows apps can install wherever i tell them. October 2, 20205 yr So that error usually seems to be related to DLC installs. I assume you have Gamepass so my advice would be copy the Official and Community folders somewhere; Re-install the "launcher" bit then copy the folder to its final destination and then when the launcher asks where to install to point it to that folder and see if it just fixes the files it needs.

Well i bought it, but do have gamepass. I renamed the install folder where i had the packages, that really didnt help. Its always dying on the Digital Ownership install however. Also I tried another windows account, switched to that and same error occurs. If i try a clean test install of windows on the same system it does work there, so clearly something is botched on my windows install. So it just pops up right away when you go to click to install it then? Yeah I have to imagine there is something screwing up with the encryption it uses or something. There is no like remnant of the game to uninstall I assume in the apps list? Have you tried to install from the My Library list in the Microsoft store? Otherwise maybe try re-installing the Microsoft Gaming Service https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/gaming-services-not-installing/4ccc2857-5b23-4b0a-aeb5-82602152b125

Seems to be related to that yes. I guess because the drive was on other hardware so the encryption/user info is messed up. Nothing leftover no, unforunately. I actually just tried that, reinstalling the game service, no issues on the reinstall. I've done dsim commands you name it but nothing cures my username isnt showing up in the list for the appstore when i do the powershell command (packageuserinfo) Get-AppxPackage -allusers windowsstore Though i do see the other local userid i tried and failed to install from as well. Wishing i had gone with steam (got the xbox / pc version because there was the xbox version eventually). Have you tried resetting the Microsoft Store? Open Settings and then follow the below instructions: Click on Apps then Apps and Features,” Now scroll down to “Microsoft Store’ in your list of Apps & Features. Click it, then click “Advanced Options,” and in the new window click Reset. You’ll receive a warning that you’ll lose data on this app. Click “Reset” again, and you’re done.
October 5, 20205 yr Author I followed every tip I could find online, none of it helped. Including resetting the MS store on many levels (powershell etc, none worked) In the end here was the fix: I had cloned the drive fs2020 was installed to, forgot that part, I think after cloning I deleted one of the windows apps folders on the cloned drive to try to clear things and start over. Well realizing I had the old drive on hand I tested it, things worked again no errors. It did a redownload and fixed things. So I then recloned the drive, pulled out the old one. Now all is fine. If I hadn’t had that original drive I’d still be hosed and in many cases it sounded like people either gave up and went with the steam version or got the program temporarily refunded to cure the cure the D12 digital ownership problem which was specific only to FS2020.
