Manual cache delays and resizeing

Featured Replies

Hello fellow Simmers!

I enjoy the new FS alot and it runs fine, but I seem to keep having problems with the manual cache feature.

1) I had initially set the cache size to a maximum of 60GB and can't downsize it now, although only about 14GBs are currently used up by a preloaded area.

2) Even after the recent FS-update the manual cache mask is EXTREMELY laggy and unresponsive, once an area is downloaded. It takes me about 40 minutes just to be able to enter a new location into the mask. Restarting the sim or my PC doesn't help.

FS is installed on a 500 GB SSD with a 2060 GTX, an i7 - 6700 CPU and 16 GBs of RAM.

Thank you for your input and happy flying!

Manual cache is "broken". What I do is create separate smaller caches which I can switch between depending on where I am flying. It's not a perfect solution, but it works.

You're not alone. It becomes unusable after you cache a sizeable area.

.. which means reasonable hope, it will be addressed.

According to the patch notes, it has been, but I haven't tried it yet.

Same problem here. When you start adding more regions, it becomes extremely unresponsive to the point where it becomes almost unusable. Waiting forever for the UI to update and can't even click on the buttons.

I accessed the manual cache UI and it seems to be working fine again. I did not add a new area, but I was able to use the interface, which i could not after the previous patch.

Quick side question, if you all don't mind.

I have my manual cache set at 250GB, with a few regions cached. Is there a way to reduce the size of the cache (down to 100GB)?

Thanks!

Albert

I can't downsize it, either. UI is a bit more responsive since the latest patch, but still quite sluggish once things become big.
