October 3, 20205 yr There's a new tool out that easily allows one to import Google Maps photogrammetry into MFS. I'm not posting a link because I don't know if this falls under the forum's piracy umbrella, but my post isn't about this tool but rather the photogrammetry itself. I was looking at some of Google's photogrammetry for a city that Bing doesn't have in 3D, and I noticed it has cars on the road and shadows cast from where the sun was in the sky when the city was photographed. I bet if I were to import this imagery into the sim, it would keep the baked-in shadows and cars, whereas the MFS's default photogrammetry has (crudely) removed cars from roads, and I don't remember seeing obvious baked-in shadows.. I'm guessing the image processing is done by Asobo rather than Bing Maps, and I bet this is done server-side rather than by the client on my computer. As much as I like photogrammetry, I think the lack of shadow and car removal would negate its realism, at least at lower altitudes. Thoughts? Edited October 3, 20205 yr by Keto Ketchup
October 3, 20205 yr I see it the opposite way. I've never liked roads with baked in cars. For me it looks disturbing when ai cars are driving over unmovable flat cars ... - Harry 9800x3D (Strix x870e-E) - 64GB RAM (DDR5 6000, CL 30) - RTX 5090, 34'' 1440p OLED HDR - Windows 11 Pro (1TB M.2) - MSFS 2024 (MS Store, 4TB M.2).

I liked roads across football fields and buildings (landclass) even less. Edited October 3, 20205 yr by HiFlyer We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... For me it looks disturbing when ai cars are driving over unmovable flat cars ... I think you misread, as we are not opposite - I also do not like roads with baked-in cars (or shadows). That's why I'm not finding photogrammetry from Google as a "solution" for the MFS, because I think I'd rather have autogen cities than unprocessed photogrammetry.
