asking for disc

Featured Replies

After more than a month after purchasing through the Microsoft store, MSFS2020 suddenly asks for a disc when starting up .....
The Microsoft store clearly states that I own the product and this is the first time MSFS2020 has asked for it.
I have logged out of my microsoft account and logged in again but no result.
Anyone any idea how to fix this?

try this:

Microsoft Flight Simulator

  • Known Issue: Some users seeing a "Please insert the Microsoft Flight Simulator disc" error when launching the game on Windows 10.
  • Workaround:  In order to play the game digitally on Windows 10, you will need to have the Digital Ownership File installed as it is required to grant the necessary permissions to play. If you already have this file installed and are running in to this error, please uninstall and reinstall this file only and this should resolve the issue. There is no need to uninstall the entire 127+GB base game files. Uninstalling this small 10MB file is all that will be needed.

I get this, and it's pretty unbelievable whats causing it. If i fly say in the US ( I live in the UK) and adjust the live weather time, some hours later my PC time will change to the time in he US i was flying at. Everytime i forget when loading MSFS it will ask for the disc. I then come out, reset the time on my PC to current time in the UK and it's fine until the next time..

I mentioned it over at the MSFS forum, and was basically told that cannot happen so there you go.

AMD Ryzen 7 5800x3d, MSI X570 Pro, 32 gb DDR4 3600 ram, Gigabyte 6800 16gb GPU, 1x 2tb Samsung  NvMe , 1x 2tb Sabrent NvME, 1x Crucial 4tb Nvme M2 Drive

This also happened to me the other day but it was because I had no internet connection. Reconnecting to the internet did the trick.

This was the exact solution I found via Google when I encountered the problem an hour ago, worked perfectly!
