Had a similar experience just yesterday.  I my case it appears it was a conflict between liveries and mods.  Here is the topic from yesterday where that was profiled:

So i read your reply and seems like the sim remembered somehow so you had to empty the entire folder to clear up whatever was causing it then put the not offending mods back in.. and yeah the repaint was the culprit..

explains maybe my sudden FBW a320 flight today when bam, the sim locked up completely.... very aggravating

I come back to this discussion because I also experienced CTDs. I never had any before yesterday, the day when I flew the Cictation CJ4 with the new black livery provided by Microsoft. I had 3 CTDs in mid-flight, 2 with no mod at all and 1 with the Working Title CJ4 mod, which I am sure it is not the cause. I wrote a topic about this here:

Anyway, I can understand a mod livery causes a crash, even if I think it shouldn't happen I can understand it. But when the livery is provided by Microsoft themselves, it is hard to accept. I cannot be 100% sure the new default library is the cause of the CTD, what I know is that when I flew the CJ4 in the same conditions with the initial default library (the white paint), everything went fine, perfect, no problem.

Hard to understand, isn't it?
