I too am on board. This is the first flight sim I have purchased that isnt Janes and I love it. I havent added any tweaks to my laptop yet and only added the reduced autogenned trees to my desktop. Everytime I fly I feel totaly immersed. I love the way everything looks. I look at screenshots of FS9 compared to FSX and its night and day. I routinely run the game on my laptop and get around 11-15 fps in airports and between 18-35 fps flying in lesser populated areas and it all looks gorgeous with most of the sliders on medium and some on high. Night flying gives me upwards of 50 fps sometimes. I cant wait to actually understand how to do some tweaks to my desktop so I can fly it as beautifully. Kudos so MS for a very FUN and beautiful game. My only dilemma is that I bought the standard version and want to fly the plane that looks like it has a boat-like botom and retractable gears. Anyone know where to download more planes for FSX that are high quality?

Hi TommyF try this one widgeon_radial.zip Its made by Joe Binka not the same quality as the FSX one but not bad. Since it has xml gauses it should work in FSX

Ill try and download it as soon as I get home from work. Do you have to pay avsim to download from this website? I tried going and checking out the downloads here and it wouldnt accept my name or password. Anyway, are there any other sites that are recommended for downloading new aircraft for FSX??

YES I like FSX,but i still do love FS9 too...And after some time when all the add-ons are ready for it, FSX will win i am shure!byeBert

After using FSX for a month ... here's my 2 cents worth: It essentially depends on what you want from your sim. If you like small airports, VFR, and your little red Cessna than FSX offers the better choice at the moment. And that's what most users seem to want. A bit of flying around the barns and hedges. If you are into AI simulation, want hundreds of AI airlines installed, fly your PMDG 747 out of EGLL with a realistic FMC and flight plan, all the way to KLAX in realistic weather and stunning clouds, I am afraid FSX is not for you ... for now. In 2-3 years you have a processor with 8 cores or more, a super uber graphics card with chips 2-3 times as powerful as now, and then you will be able to run the latest addons on FSX.

I love it !!Delighted with the performance, way beyond that i had expected. Patience and expectations are two critical factors at play here. I read all the negative comments about it and was expecting problems, but hey, NOPE - not here. Just lovin the way this versin looks once set up well.Best RegardsEddy North Wales - UK

This is sim is amazing. Was watching a travel show showing a beautiful valley, and I though, wait a sec, I've been there. Turns out I was thinking of the Austrian valley from the Red Bull mission-and that's exactly what the show was about. Simming since the 80's and this is the best civilian effort bar none, and when the hardware catches up it will be close to the grail in all regimens=-not just low and slow, but for the eavy iron and even orbiters. Along with Falcon 4 Aliied Force 1.08, things are great for simmers at the moment.
