January 20, 200620 yr It's a crying shame when you see that thing crash...http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...s/Goodale01.jpg
January 20, 200620 yr How much does it weigh? In the UK models models weighing more than 7 kg are subject to restrictions, including not being flown in Class A, D or E airspace without ATC permission. Models weighing more than 20 kg and less than 150 kg are classified as a small aircraft and are subject to all the requirements of the UK AirNavigation Order - including airworthiness. The CAA will issue an exemption subject to additional operating conditions and after it has been satisfied that the model is designed, built, and test flown to a satisfactory standard. The Large Model Association operates an inspection scheme on behalf of the UK aeromodelling associations and will confirm satisfactory design and build standards to the the CAA, and also a build inspection schedule. This is all set out in CAP 658 - Model Aircraft: a Guide to Safe Flying Gerry Howard
January 20, 200620 yr That's incredible. But when does an R/C becuase a UAV?FWIW, I bet it would be just as difficult/easy (depending on your viewpoint) building one of these http://www.supermarineaircraft.com/. Not only that but easier to fly to!I know which I'd prefer :D
January 24, 200620 yr Author How much would it cost to build something like that? :)---------------------------------------"If it doesn't have a VC, I won't be flying it http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v615/DarrenA300/smug.gif" ... hang on a minute .... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v615/DarrenA300/unsure.gif ... that is too restrictive! Most flight simulator planes don't have a fully functional VC .... I'm happy to fly non-VC planes such as the brilliant iFDG range, Samdim's fantastic aircraft, POSKY's wonderful planes, and many many others! I'm the richer for it :).
