Vertx DA62 Battery problem - displays not lighting

I bought this aircraft at the weekend, installed it and had a couple of flights yesterday. No problems.

This morning I powered it up and it sat on the tarmac whilst I programmed some switches using GIT. All this time the main G1000 displays were illuminated. But when I powered the systems off prior to closing P3D there was a small countdown display shown in the space occupied by the standby ADI.

I paid no attention to it but on loading P3D later and selecting the DA62 I can't get any displays to come on. I switch on both L & R alternators and then select the red Electrical Master Switch. The display remain dark.

I read about the ground power option and have turned on Aux Power but still no joy. Any ideas on how to get it fired up please?

If I select "Ready for Flight" in the DA62 utility the displays all work correctly. The problems seem to be associated with this message which is displayed after I turn on the Master Switch. There's no reference to this anywhere in the manual or the real-world DA62 manuals. I'm struggling.

I have no idea, Ray, but I'm just throwing some questions up in the air which may (or may not, help). Have you "selected the option, then pushed the knob" within 40 seconds?

Could there be no juice left in the battery? Although.. having ground power on should alleviate that... in most aeroplanes..

Sorry for chiming in, sometimes I like a good puzzle.

Hi Mark,

I think I've solved it. There is a knob which was very difficult to see as the panel was very dark. I clicked it and selected ON. I then turned the Elect Master off and also both alternators. This is after a landing. I then exited P3D and reloaded it. I have the option to remember previous Avionics settings in the Vertx utility.

When I restart P3D and select the DA62 and ... BINGO! The switches work and the two G1000 units come to life.

I suspect if you ignore that Power option it defaults to OFF and after that the avionics can't be turned on even with AUX PWR selected. Bug perhaps? But it would be odd if I was the only one to come across it. The avionics will only then come on if you select the option Ready for Flight.

Appreciate your assistance. 👍😉

I remember very little from the Vertx Da62. I know for sure I never experienced that issue.

In general. on the C172 G1000 the PFD is available from the standby battery. Then turn on the master BAT/ALT and start the engine . Finally turn avionics ON and the MFD will come to life. At least that's how our club's G1000 work. 🙄

Sometimes, me being random actually helps  . Glad you have sorted it and/or uncovered a bug with a workaround.

It looks to be different with the DA62. I watched a couple of videos on the startup procedure and it's very simple. Both Alternators ON, Both Fuel Control levers to ON, Elect Master ON. That should fire up the electronics ready for engine start.

But the systems never came alive. Seems to be linked to that warning I showed above where if you don't set it to ON the systems cannot then be turned on later unless Ready for Flight is selected. C&D and Remember options don't fix the problem.

But as long as I shut it down correctly I think it's sorted for next time. How come you don't fly it any more? Moved on to v5?

@Ray Proudfoot

Yeah, I ditched V4 quite early. I use many different sims (XPL11, P3D, DCS) and it's just too cumbersome maintaining all those sims for me. And also  add MSFS into the fray and I risk being more of a system admin than simmer (but seems like that usually goes hand in hand 😄)

@SAS443, I don’t know how you cope with all those systems. I have P3D v3 for FSL Concorde and v4 for everything else. Maintenance must be a nightmare.

Now that FSL have announced Concorde will be developed for v4 and 5 I may not move to v5. Everything just works now in 4.

The DA62 will work in V5 should you change your mind. I fly it all the time. It takes some wrestling but you can do it. There is a post somewhere here at AVSIM if you start to migrate over.

Yes, I came across it during my search. v5 would have to be a significant improvement over v4 for me to switch. I don’t think we’re there yet.
