MSFS B787 Dreamliner "How to" help needed

Featured Replies

OK.  today I flew the B787 Dreamliner and it was going well on final approach on the ILS, the LOC/GS were on, then I shut down the AP and manually tried to put it down.

But the AT (Throttle) would not shut  off? I am using the sidewinder joystick (for now) so I can't quickly do the throttle reverse (The airbus and I believe the 747 shuts the throttle when I physically move the throttle to 0) ... But when I shut down on the joystick, the engine/  the throttle of the B787 is still revved up,. I have to use the mouse to shut the AT switch down and by then Its too late.. I  go off beyond the end of the runway.

Any idea, how I can close the landing? Any suggestions?

I normally shut off the auto throttle using the switches (with my mouse), though maybe you can tie that to a joystick button?

Unfortunately, I don’t know another way.

I see a  function "Hold Throttle Reverse Thrust" and I have assigned that to a button.. Need to test it. But its not engaging the reverse when I am idling at the runway.

I found a function "Arm Auto throttle" and it says, its a toggle. Let me try this. I don't have that many buttons left.. so I assigned both those functions to a single spare button I had.

Let  see if that works.

A/T disengages but the Reverse does not work when I pressed the button. Hmmmm.

I can make do with this for now. I would have to set auto brake at 4.

So now, I have two of the 3 airliner functional/ The A320 Neo and the 787.

Try the toggle that toggles reverse thrust (can't remember the exact name right now, but it's different than the one  you used).  You press it then shove your throttle control forward and it puts the throttle into reverse.  To go back you just idle your levers and push the toggle again.

Yes it's called Toggle Reverse Thrust. Let me try that. Thanks

edited to add: That worked. Thanks.

I use "Hold reverse thrust".   Return your throttle to idle,   hold the reverse thrust button,  and push the throttles to 100% for reverse thrust.     Flyinion is correct.

One a side note,  the 787 auto brakes are so good that I almost never need reversers.     It's possible to land a 78 at TFFJ without reverse thrust,   by setting the auto brakes to max on the center console.
