Transparency FSX

Featured Replies

Hello,I do hope someone can help me,I just got FSX and overall I am truly Enjoying it,However, Whenever I am flying at night the runway lights go right through my 3D cockpit, and while there are times this may be helpful it sure takes away from the challenge,,,I notice there is a slider for the 2D panels and I have changed this slider all over, However, It is quite apparently only for the 2D panels and does not affect the 3D panels,,,Can someone tell me if I am the only one experiecing this dilema,,,ORBetter yet, Tell me how I can fix it,,,Mainly to make the 3D panel solid, with NO Night lights shining through,Thank YOU for all your HelP,,,Dean

That didn't help any,,,I also noticed even in the day the brighter runway lights go right through the 3D panel,,,This is kinda annoying,,,I do hope someone finds a fix,Or can tell me what I need to do,,,ThanksDean

Hi Dean, would love to help, but I can't reproduce the problem. Are your drivers current? Tried different slider options?Regards, MichaelKDFW

Dean,It sounds to me like your 3D panel is not fully loaded. I find that sometimes when changing from 2D to 3D the gauges will load before the panel background. At that point the panel looks transparent. It's possible that you don't have enough video memory to load everything. maxsdad

Do you have light bloom on? I seem to recall this happening due to a bug with it...

It happens when you have "Light Bloom" enabled. It seems for some reason this happens with ATI cards.I'm hoping that a future driver will fix the problem. If not, I'm hoping the patch to be released next year will address the problem. The sim performs a lot better with "Light Bloom" turned off, but #### it looks good with it on!James

IT happens with nvidea card too.Since its been mentioned that it happens during "Bloom". Hmmm....Thats possibly right. I do tend to use bloom at night.I have another issue with bloom. During low visibility condition when I have bloom, my whole monitor turns white. But I have not seen others reporting the problem. This happened to me when I had the nvidia 7600XT and now with the 8800XTS.Manny

I do have an ATI 850XT card, 1.5 MB Ram and I did have Light Bloom ON...I turned Light Bloom off and the transparancy problem disappeared,,,Funny thing is I turned Light Bloom back on again and the light bloom feature seemed to not work, However, the lights also did not come through the panel either, which is GOOD...I'll play around with it some more,But for now, I'M VERY HAPPY...Thanks a Million for all those who helped,,,Dean
