Possible fix for FS2020 A/P problem

Recommended Posts

I’ve noticed if the plane starts flying off course, if I just use a direct in the MFD it fixes it.

Side note, has anyone had the AP just randomly skip nav points? Sometimes on approach the flight computer will just skip to the runway causing the plane to stop following the approach and fly straight at the runway. This has been happening for the last couple of patches, it’s not recent. But I can’t find any common factors when it happens. It just seems random.

Did you try the fix explained in the video above? I just made a OKBK - OTHH with it and it was perfect

Yes, I did try that one yesterday, but ran into the infamous A/P problems. I then remembered that way back when we used to delete the cache(s) when running into these kind of problems, so I decided to delete the rolling cache and lo and behold, that worked for me. Till this afternoon. Duh. So I will refrain from using FS2020 for the time being, till a solution to this problem (Hotfix?) is found and can be implemented and will use that time to enjoy the P3D PMDG 737s again 🙂

Kind regards,

They haven't even acknowledged the issue yet.

I deleted the cache - no difference. I changes the livery - no difference. I ran default A320 - no difference. I started on the runway and that worked!

I will try the save start suggestion and the turn systems off before engine start suggestion too. I wonder if the program can't figure out our position when starting at the gate ?

I don’t use the rolling cache at all, and noticed the turn rate problem literally within 2 minutes after takeoff in my very first flight in the 172 - making a 180 degree turn using heading select with the AP engaged. The first two thirds of the turn were fine, but then the bank shallowed out and the rate of turn slowed way down, and it took ages for the final part of the turn to complete.

I have tested this in the 172, Caravan, TBM and A320, with no flight plan, and clear sky weather with no wind - just a simple 180 degree turn using heading select. All the aircraft do exactly the same thing. The final stage of the turn becomes extremely sluggish. This never happened in any previous version of MSFS. I’m quite sure that Robert is correct. They have changed something in the lateral turn rate coding of the core autopilot system, and it is affecting every aircraft in the sim as far as I can tell.

Had the same issue. Tried like 10+ flights resulting in the AP not tracking any course. Super frustrating. After deleting the rolling cache and generating a new one the AP finally works again (at least for now). I like that coincident =D
