FP Altitude Probs

Featured Replies

I'm trying to make a flight from KDEN to KCOS to test P2ATC. I selected one waypoint along the route and hit validate and it changes my altitude from 10500 to FL180. I change it back, hit validate and it does it again. I dont think I need to get to 18k just to fly from Denver to the Springs VFR. Any way to select what altitude I want or am I slaved to what P2ATC wants? And also, it is set to VFR and it is showing a TOD at 18000.

And importing flight plans from Simbrief is a real mess. It never gets the altitudes right.  Regardless I love this product and would really like to get it working soon.

Thanks.

You probably have your "Check Enroute Safe Altitude" option turned on so it will increase altitudes to keep you at least your Minimum Enroute AGL above the terrain.  You can lower the Min Enroute Altitude or turn off Safe Altitude checking on the main Config page.

This could also affect imported flight plans.  If it's planned altitudes, P2A calculates its own planned climb and descent altitudes, so those would replace anything from SimBrief.

Got it. I figured it was something in the settings. I'll have to give the manual a good read tonight.

But the MSA for that area is no higher than 16300. I think.

There you have it - if you have bearing based altitudes enabled, then FL180 would be the result.
