Anti ICe

Featured Replies

Hello,

Anti icing conditions during takeoff:
Button, SPO2

During Takeoff checks i choose for FS2Crew we need Engine and Wing Antiicing to on.

During the after start flow the FO set Wing- and engine antiicing to on.
After Takeoff the FO set Wing AI to Off - i am climbing through fog and clouds in icing conditions.
so you have to repair please:
On Ground Wing AI is not to use in a 737
and after takeoff when the packs go on, the Wing AI should be set.

thanks,thomas

I believe on the 737 the WAI trips off by itself at liftoff.

The WAI switch logic is interesting, on the ground, bleed air for WAI will cut-off if either thrust lever is above the take-off warning setting, but will be restored after the thrust is reduced. This allows you to perform engine run-ups etc without having to check that the WAI is still on afterwards. The switch is solenoid held and will trip off at lift-off, this is for performance considerations as the bleed air penalty is considerable.

Hello Bryan,

thanks for That, thats new for me.

i have also looked into the NGXu Manual, PMDG says aslo WingAI as needet in the after Start checklist.

but: Please check, why the FO swich the WAI off in the Takeoff-Flow when i am in icing conditions after takeoff.
Engine AI will not switched to off by the FO, and thats good so.
