FSD Seneca for FSX??

Featured Replies

Hi,Has anybody purchased the new FSD Seneca V v.2 yet? Any comments about it. A while back, there was quite a heated discussion regarding the accuracy of the flight model for the Dreamfleet Baron. FSD claims to have modeled Asymmetric thrust and pitch and yaw moments with this new version, though from the description, I'm not sure they are claiming to have modeled engine out performance accurately. Anyway, I was wondering if anybody had any comments on the accuracy of the flight model in this and/or any other regards. Thanks,Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180

Save your money, Thomas. Although they advertise that the planes are Flight Simulator X Compatible, they are not. I purchased the package and found it would not load in FSX. When I requested a refund they sent some very nasty email. They finally agreed to issue a refund - I am still waiting.Wayne

The file set for FS X requires a different installer due to the new file formats and requirements of the new simulator. The FS X installer will be ready next week and available for license owners of the Seneca V Version II at no charge.

Look at the top middle of the opening page at AVSIM. Does it not read "Flight Simulator X Compatible"? For Navajo Version 2.0 and other planes by FSD.

Does their installer still put spyware into your computer? I don't care how accurate their models are, its their business practices I have an issue with. Even dare to suggest something needs fixing and you get the proprietary answer: "Well, it must be your system, it doesn't happen to anyone else." Persist, and you get barred from their forum, and all subsequent posts from those who have endured the same identical problem are just chopped, in order to `prove` the original reply, left in full view, was valid.Just a bit too `sharp` for my tastes.Allcott

I agree with you Allcot. Just went through this with Captain Sim's 757 slideshow. He told us many times that it was our computers despite that similar add-ons had double the fps. Go figure. There are some exceptions though, such as Natural Point, abacus, wilco, aerosoft etc.

Allcot, I don't know if they install spyware, but it does phone home when you run they program. I expect it is checking to determine if you have a legal copy.FSD certainly missed out on customer relations when it was being taught. Told me not to return as a customer. Not a good esperience with them.

All their planes fly the same way.

They are all want you to bite. Wait for the patch.

Granted, I installed the Seneca V for the first time and avoided any "registration" problems, I simply told the FS9 oriented installer that FS2004 was in my FSX folder. Just make SURE you have a "aircraft" folder inside of your FSX folder until they issue the new installer for FSX. I flew the plane, looks lovely, good FPS and all that. THere may be minor issues of which I am not aware, the plane's throttles acted a bit quirky for taxi, but that was all so far!Randy Jura, KPDX

>All their planes fly the same way. Yes they do! Pull back, and they go up. Push forward and they go down; with enough power, airspeed, etc. :-hah When it comes to flight dynamic programming for MSFS models, there's many years of experience at FSD. Their flight models are not simple , or the same, by any means. A few years back, they released freeware upgrades for numerous default models, that were some of the best flight dynamic upgrades in the business.L.Adamson

Well,I installed the recently released (on Monday) FSX version. FSD had announced a release during this week - they did it on the first day of the week!!!One of the things that puzzles me the most in this aircraft is the nill impact it has on FPS. The various panels, 2d and VC perform smooth as silk and I couldn't notice ANY fps drop.Flightmodel-wise, the Seneca is simply GREAT! I believe FSD knows really well how to overcome MSFS's internal limitations and the fact is that the flight physics are consistent with what I know about this aircraft - massively used around here at flight schools for multi-engine instruction.Regarding any anti-piracy measures, I am fully in favour! Anyway, there is no such nonsense as spyware on FSD installers - where did you get that from? What do you then call what MS does when you agree to let'em check if your Windows version is genuine? All I can say is that after having bought this excellent add-on, sofar my best FSX add-on, I can't wait for the next releases. I skipped a few aircraft from the FSD hangar during my looong fs9 walk (pretty much airliner-oriented, with the exception of RealAir's superb models...), but something has brought a particular attention and delight in flying GA aircraft with this new version of Flight Simulator. Helicopters are yet another area of interest for me :-)

There are plenty of topics locked in this forum on the various dubious business practices employed by FSD, including the installation of spyware. More than enough proof. All I can say is I am glad you have it, and like it, and don't have any problems. Yet. Allcott

It seems obvious that there are a few people out there who have had problems, although I can say I have a lot of their stuff and have never experienced any of the nightmares you continually relate in the forums. I think it more likely you just have a private vendetta against them, and whoever else. Developers and indivdiuals get anonymously bashed here in the forums all the time. Personally I am not swayed much by that.If you have personal issues with somebody why don't you get them resolved directly instead of taking anonymous pot shots in public. Thats like dropping rocks from a highway overpass and then running.Rob Morrison
