December 18, 20205 yr I see people always complain about CTD's like it's Osobo's Fault. For me I can count the number of CTD's I have had with MSFS2020 since Aug 19 on one hand. What causes 99.99% of them can be summarized by three different causes. None of which are Osobo's fault 1> Overclocking- CPU, memory and GPU. I set my CPU back to Factory, My memory at SPD speed in bios. I do overclock my GPU using Rivatuner but I burn it in. If I do have a CTD I back down the GPU settings a little. 2> Addon Software There are many issues with software. Even the best developers release addons the cause CTD's under certain conditions. 3> Addon Software Conflicts These are the hardest to pin down but many software addons do not play nice with other ones Issue 2 and 3 can be pretty much be eliminated or ruled out as a cause by Using MSFS Addon Linker! By only loading the Scenery, Planes and Mods you need for that flight. You eliminate many software conflicts, You streamline your Community folder. and MSFS loads quicker using less memory. Its a WIN WIN addon. Native Crash to desktops from Flight Simulator very rarely occur and the vast majority are not Osobo's Fault. December 18, 20205 yr Would be handy if we could see a crash log (like X-Plane provides). Only then can you really (potentially) tell.
December 18, 20205 yr I for one have yet to have one. But I have no more than a couple of mods in the Community Folder and have not adjusted anything on my system since it arrived, so your premise seems right!
December 18, 20205 yr There is a lot of truth in this. Settings I used on other software simply will not stand up to MSFS, it really stresses my CPU/GPU. Since dialing back the settings (very mild overclocks on both now) I have not had a CTD for a long time. Carenado cockpit click-spots not included of course - but all fixed now! 🙂. December 18, 20205 yr Author Yes I used to run my CPU at 5200mhz and ram at 3400. Never had any problems in DCS at that setting. MSFS will not run at these overclock settings. I backed my down to 4900 cpu and 3200 ram which are defaults. MSFS not only runs smoother No CTDs but I really think it is slightly faster, Less stuttering, Regards Denwagg Steam MSFS 2020. December 18, 20205 yr 1 hour ago, Denwagg said: vast majority are not Osobo's Fault. Agree. Vast majority are as you say, user error and/or system (computer) limitations. I myself have had 2 CTD’s since launch day (both on the current version). I think that would put me in the hypothetical ‘excellent’ category. I suspect I was asking too much of my limited GPU memory (6GB) and or RAM 16GB as my system runs pretty smooth with settings cranked right up on high/ultra. Turned off live traffic and turned down the AI and have not had another issue in the past perhaps 20 hours. That said, Asobo ain’t innocent (no software of this complexity can be perfect only 3 months in) but they are absolute angels when I read about the disaster that is Cyberpunk 2077!
