Could ACES provide an explanation?

Featured Replies

I really like a lot of things about FSX (apart from the fps issue of course) but one thing that bothers me more. Could someone from ACES explain why a very clever hacker (and I mean this in nicest possible way) like Matthias Neusinger, without benefit of the source code, can produce a playback as smooth as a baby

A gentleman with Aces is supposed to chime in here for some form of notification as to what they have decided to do with FSX. If I remember correctly, the announcement was to be around Thanksgiving. Not sure what they will do but I am sure we will find out soon.RegardsBob

This problem exists in FS2002 & FS2004 so it's nothing new. The Flight Recording playback isn't much better and was the same in FS2004. I have had the same results on 3 different computers. I contacted one of the ACES members privately sometime in 2004 about it but he said they could not reproduce the effect. Hmmmmmm. Odd, isn't it. They can't but there have been numerous posts here and elsewhere about it......As I'm sure you are aware, FSX has become a VERY big program and finding and fixing a inconsequential thing such as this has to be very low on the "to do" list when you consider some of the major problems such as the Multiplayer problems and SimConnect.Cheers,Cal (CYXX)(FSX Beta Tester)AMD Athlon 64 X2, 4600+, 2Gb, GF7950 GX2

Have you anything at all useful to say? *:-*

Hi FolksWizard -It's nothing surprising or special. When you are flying, FSX is busy doing lots of bits & pieces.AFAIK - (I might be wrong with this first aspect.)FSX recorder saves a proprietry movie type file, and its maximum recording rate is 4 FPS.So even if your machine will allow flight at 100FPSyou will only ever see a maximum of 4 FPS on playback.Mattias's recorder's maximum recording rate is 8 FPS,as such will seem much more fluid. It also works differently, by recording various a/c parameters through simconnect. It then replays these as commands injecting them into FSX through simconnect, with the a/c effectively being positioned in SLEW mode.FSX therefore has a lot less work to do.You can also see an equivalent FPS improvement when flyingif you switch from normal flight to slew mode.HTHATBPaulhttp://www.basys.f9.co.uk/resources/images..._sig_500x94.jpg

"dont hold your breath":-roll Since Aces said they would pretty sure they will. Like Bill posted your account may suffer if you don't lighten up some. I to have never seen you post anything useful smarti05 maybe you out to try some of that. A little help goes along way for everybody.

..says the guy who called the ACES managers a pack of "corporate wolves" :-lol

For real, let all who aren't mods stop with the threats of user account deletion. He is entitled to his opinion just as you are. If you don't like it then don't read it. I dislike this type of pack mentality bullying.

Wow seems like you read more into post then is there. Somebody say account Deletion, Or that he has no right to post. I think he was just warned it is better to post some help mixed in with whatever you might not like instead of just bashing. Now was his post really helpful or was it a cheap shot at Aces? And you back it up then say you don't like the pack mentality what pack you running with? See how easy things can get out of hand from one post.:)ACES said the would try to get back on this forum after Thanksgiving.I think they will it may not be till around the 1st or 2nd of December maybe even later but why not give them time.

>..says the guy who called the ACES managers a pack of>"corporate wolves" :-lolIf you're going to try to quote me lugnut, at least get it right! :-sae I called their BOSSES "corporate wolves..." You know, the suits in the ivory towers who get the seven figure salaries. :-sword I have far too much respect for the friends I have at ACES to say anything against them personally. None of the managers at ACES can legitimately be called a "suit." They all work far too hard to qualify!OTOH, "suits are suits" no matter what company they work for... ;)
