December 21, 20205 yr When I fly around the coast of the UK I see what appear to be white cliffs from a distance, which then disappear when I get closer. (This seems to happen in places where there is indeed a steep slope or cliff. It's just that it shouldn't be white - so I'm not talking about Dover etc!) I assume this is happening elsewhere in the world too, though I haven't checked. My theory is that what I'm seeing is the surface of the sea on the cliff. I used to get this kind of problem when I made scenery for Aerofly and I blamed it on inadequate terrain mesh. In that case it was usually a combination of sloping sea and sea on the cliffs. However MSFS is a bit different because somebody has obviously done some work to make sure that the sea never slopes, even though the terrain mesh may be low res in some places. I wonder if the white cliffs are disappearing when I get close because there is a better terrain mesh that only kicks in at short range? I also wonder whether this problem will be rectified when the overall terrain mesh for the UK is improved? It's not a massive deal, but it does somewhat spoil the approach to land after a low altitude flight across the sea.
December 21, 20205 yr Why don't you post pictures so we can get an idea of what you are talking bout?

December 21, 20205 yr That's the glitch. I only noticed it after the last update. It tends to morph in and out with distance. I checked my LOD settings (sliders and in user config file) and they are still the same. Something changed in the sim again that was not in the patch notes. The usual response from Asobo is that they haven't willfully changed anything, so it must be a error that has crept in or it changed when they changed something else. I hope they find it and correct it, as I believe it is the same bug causing the morphing mountains and valleys etc. The Grand Canyon was pretty bad on one of my earlier flights, and it is a shame as the scenery is superb when it isn't morphing about! 🙂 Edited December 21, 20205 yr by bobcat999 Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).
